It could have been predicted that a homophobe would also be a
misogynist.

Maybe so, and what's the matter with being both a homophobe and a
misogynist, dumbshit?

What is wrong with despising more than half of the human population of
the Earth? Gee, that is a tough question.

Women hate men. If you don't believe this, consider what it is that
women say about men publicly and privately.

There is nothing wrong with returning someone's hate.

I think I see where the confusion lies. They don't hate *men, Grizzly
- they just hate *you.

My Enemy, My Love: Man-Hating and Ambivalence in Women's Lives
by Judith Levine
From Kirkus Reviews
Here, a contributing editor to New York Woman convincingly argues that
some degree of man-hating (``misandry'') is practically universal
among American women today. For evidence of man-hating, Levine draws
on 80 in-depth interviews with women of various social classes,
ethnic backgrounds, occupations, and sexual orientations. Nearly all
women, she finds, perceive men as fitting one or more stereotypes:
either that of needy ``Infant,'' exploitative ``Betrayer,'' or
testosterone-poisoned ``Beast.'' Levine goes on to describe the
genesis of such attitudes in
women's first relationships with their fathers, and represents the
feminist movement of the 60's and 70's as the first time that women
recognized the commonality of these feelings and claimed the right to
express them. Her discussion concludes with portraits of individual
women and the strategies they have found for dealing with their
hatred or ambivalence: total avoidance of men; intimacy marred by
strife; rage and disappointment; utter capitulation. In only one
couple does Levine find an egalitarianism that exemplifies her own
vision of a future in which gender will be seen simply as interesting
difference, not superiority or inferiority, and in which the work,
concerns, and privileges of both sexes will be shared equally.
Thoughtful and balanced, despite its volatile subject, and deserving a
place on the same postfeminist shelf as Deborah Tannen's You Just
Don't Understand, Myriam Miedzian's Boys Will Be Boys, or Susan
Faludi's Backlash. --

If you bought a copy of her book, you have helped her accomplish her

The fact that a woman has CONFESSED that man-hating is universal or
near-universal among women is very important. It's important that
word be gotten out.

But then you only read reviews of the
books, I suppose. There have been books by men that claim all men are
bisexual; do you believe everything you read, or just those articles
and books (or rather, reviews of them) which agree with your
preconceptions?

Well, a woman who admits that her gender is guilty of hating the other
gender isn't really writing from a standpoint of self-interest - she
is delivering a CONFESSION so she has more credibility than a bisexual
man who says that everyone is bisexual - he's obviously acting of
self-interest.

At least you read.

But not well.

I do all right, thank you.

What is "some degree"?

Well, it's proper English. Is that why you don't understand it?

Well it almost has to go hand and hand if you think about it,
after all a homophobe is one repressing their sexual attraction
to the same sex. Therefore the hate of women comes natural,
and the hate of gays is their projection of the their hate of
themselves, and is the symptoms of that repression of their
true sexuality.
Psychoanalytic theory holds that homophobia -- the fear, anxiety,
anger, discomfort and aversion that some ostensibly heterosexual
people hold for gay individuals -- is the result of repressed
homosexual urges that the person is either unaware of or denies.

http://www.apa.org/releases/homophob.html

Well, y'see, that isn't true. I haven't read the Index of Homophobia
survey they used to categorize the respondents participants in this
study. I didn't even know there was one. Maybe it's the Index of
Attitudes toward Homosexuals by another name? The thing is though,
psychoanalytic theory doesn't hold that aversion etc towards
homosexuals is the result of repressed homosexual urge, only that it
is a possible explanation. Like the old lightbulb joke, psychoanalysis
takes a long time (and the lightbulb really has to want to be
changed). Even assuming there is merit in the Index of Homophobia (and
I really couldn't say yea or nay), if it were possible to define a
person's mental or emotional composition with a survey then hiring
interviews or parole hearings would have a much better ratio of
success than they do. Before a responsible psychoanalyst would offer
an opinion that a given subject is phobic about this or repressive
about that he would have the subject on the couch a good long time.
The study you cite is interesting, and added to a greater arc of
ongoing research may turn out to be meaningful. On its own it doesn't
mean much of anything. The study group is too small and the duration
of the study too short for it really to be an 'aha!' moment in the
development of psychoanalysis. The clinicians who did the study in
the article you cite state clearly that although the results tend to
support theory A, they do not rule out theory B. Popular opinion
aside, it is not true that we are what we hate. I, for example, am not
a realtor.
As well, there is more than one study out there, and several
conflicting conclusion. Just for fun, follow this link.

Hey! George Walton! One of my wife's (and daughters') ancestors!

And she isn't a right-wing bigot like you.

Up the anty and see you with:
Alexander Hamilton founder of the Federalist Party. Was a
homosexual (bisexual) and was a founding father, so much for
the founders would object to homosexuality. Here is a letter
between Hamilton to John Laurens:
Cold in my professions, warm in my friendships, I wish, my Dear
Laurens, it might be in my power, by action rather than words to
convince you that I love you. I shall only tell you that 'til
you bade us Adieu, I hardly knew the value you had taught my
heart to set upon you. Indeed, my friend, it was not well done.
You know the opinion I entertain of mankind, and how much it is
my desire to preserve myself free from particular attachments,
and to keep my happiness independent of the caprice of others.
You should not have taken advantage of my sensibility to steal
into my affections without my consent. But as you have done it,
and as we are generally indulgent to those we love, I shall
not scruple to pardon the fraud you have committed, on condition
that for my sake, if not for your own, you will always continue
to merit the partiality, which you have artfully instilled into me.

The letter doesn't make Hamilton homosexual. The words are typical of
an elaborate and emotional style that is no longer popular.
Shakespeare's male characters, for example, constantly prate of their
love for one another.
Well into the 19th century, it was considered polite to conclude a
letter with "Your Most Humble and Obedient Servant." That didn't mean
that every one who wrote the words actually believed them literally.
Hamilton, if anything, was a bit too heterosexual, and was involved in
a scandalous affair with another man's wife.

says "You should not have taken advantage of my sensibility to
steal into my affections without my consent, " and your lot say
they are butch he-men, but Gazzy says I am a homosexual,

your lot think a guy is gay if they wear a pink shirt, but
Hamilton and David are he-men butch types. Talk about
double standards.

with frivolous US Constitutional Amendment that null the 9th
and 14th Amendments, to enshrine your bigotry into this used
to be fine document. If you people hate the USA and its
Constitution so much, get the hell out. Go live in Saudi Arabia
where you will fit right in, and hey they cut the heads of
homosexuals off. Home Sweet Home.
A Vote for Bush is a Vote for Bigotry.
It is a vote to yell: Segregation Now, Segregation Forever.
A Vote for Bush is a Vote for more unchecked Spending.

Oh yeah, some woman helped and sewed a flag. I think there was one that
was a nurse on the battlefield too.

As complex as this issue is for room temperature IQs like
yours, no wonder you do not understand it. Marriage is a
Fundamental right of man it cannot be denied (9th Amendment),
and if a man can marry a woman then a woman must have the
same right as the man to marry a woman or her equal rights
have been violated (equal protection clause of the 14th
Amendment). The Marriage Ban Amendment is a direct
attack of the 9th and 14th Amendments to make illegal
that which is legal right now. Bush and the states are breaking
Constitutional law in not allowing intersexuals to legally marry
at all.
Skinner v. State OF OKL. Ex Rel. Williamson, 316 U.S. 535 (1942)
We are dealing here with legislation which involves one of the basic civil
rights of man. Marriage and procreation are fundamental
Palmer v. Thompson, 403 U.S. 217, at 260-61 (1971)
"Public officials may not avoid a constitutional duty by bowing to
the effects of private prejudice, however widely or deeply held."
