Merry Christmas.
It's okay to say it.T
Christmas is a cherished time of year when Americans come together and
celebrate something bigger than ourselves, something that has united us for
generations. An event that is the center of all history-the birth of Jesus
Christ.
Surveys show that 95% of Americans celebrate Christmas. Yet, due to
political correctness, disinformation, and even the threat of lawsuits from
the ACLU and its allies, religious expression at Christmastime is
increasingly absent from the public square. Slowly, this holy day is being
turned into a secular "solstice season."
The Alliance Defense Fund works year-round to preserve and protect our
religious liberties, including the right to.
....sing Christmas carols at school
....pass out candy canes to classmates
....call it "Christmas vacation"
....sponsor a nativity scene on public property
....say "Merry Christmas"
ADF wants all Americans to know the Truth-that they have the freedom to
celebrate Christmas publicly, joyfully, and without fear-for generations to
come! We are launching our annual national Christmas ProjectT to spread the
message, "Merry Christmas. It's okay to say it.T" Will you join with us?

<snip>

Of course this is utter *****. Religious expression *by government is
a violation of our Constitution. Private expression is so rampant around
this country, you get sick of the whole idea of Christmas about three
days after Thanksgiving.

By the way, are you claiming to be in the UK? If so, what the ***** do you
know about it?

I don't think he is in the UK. I think the 'UK' in the name stands for
Unbelievable Krap.

The website is hosted in the US.

If I'm wrong, it will be an embarrassing day for my country.

Well, if it's U of Kentucky (or even Kansas?), it would all make a great
deal more sense...

If it were Kansas it would be "KU" not "UK."

It's lying, whining toerags like you that have provoked the secular
Taleban into their wrath, and you know what? I'm beginning to
sympathise with them. ITS NOT YOUR FESTIVAL. YOU STOLE IT, so why
don't you just STFU and FOAD before you drive a really *****

about.

Sure, and it is okay to say (Lint® bless us every one!) "Happy
Sockday!"
Aside: I just bought some Smartwool® socks and, boy, do they keep my
feet warm in this winter season. They're expensive though so I hope
that Lint® doesn't require a sacrifice of one of them too soon. Maybe
I can redeem 3 cotton socks for 1 wool sock. I'll need to research
the scriptures.

Yes! A buying orgy of titanic proportions.

Surveys show that 95% of Americans celebrate Christmas.

Some of these people are even Christians.

The Alliance Defense Fund works year-round to preserve and protect our
religious liberties, including the right to.

...sing Christmas carols at school

If you don't sing them in class when the schoolchildren are trying to
learn civics or English, or are part of an school sponsored religious
program. <---- Hell, you can even pray in school if you do it to
yourself. Washday songs are also allowed under the same rules.

...pass out candy canes to classmates

That depends on school rules. Maybe no candy is allowed to be
distributed. And wtf do candy canes have to do with religious
liberty? Did Jesus say that peppermint was the Holy Sweet®? Exactly
where is that in the Bible?

...call it "Christmas vacation"

You can call it "Days the Children Don't Go to School in the Last Part
of December" or "The Bleaching Times Vacation" or "Constantinople" if
that is what floats your boat. You have the personal freedom to call
it whatever you want.

...sponsor a nativity scene on public property

No, you don't have that right, but you can put it on your front lawn
or your church or convince a person with a vacant lot to give you
space for your manger. Private citizens have the absolute right to do
this, unless of course they create a public nuisance. Having a
government agency sponsor something like this is a waste of taxpayers
money and not a function of government.

...say "Merry Christmas"

Sure, there's no problem with that as long as you don't think that
other people don't have the right to say whatever they please also.

Go for it. Say it at the top of your lungs. Say it in your homes and
your churches and while you are shopping and working. I'll either say
"thank you" or "Joyous Washday!" in return.
Have a wonderful, white, and glorious Linting Season!

Once upon a time in alt.atheism, dear sweet UK Ministry of St Luke
(rev@ukministry.org) made the light shine upon us with this:

Merry Christmas.
It's okay to say it.

I never do. Happy Winter Solstice is my holiday greeting. It is, after
all, the reason for the season.

I hate to break it to you, but Christmas always was the "solstice

Historically, it's never been "secular", it's just that the names of
the deities
have changed with time and location.
Or perhaps you can find some reference the Christmas Trees and

OK, you can say "Merry Christmas". Happy?
Am I the only one who thinks its funny that after whining for decades
about the "commercialization of Christmas", these groups are
mostly fighting for the right to have "Christmas Sales". I would have
thought they'd be happy to have the sales be "secular", and celebrate
their faith in their churches and homes. I guess it's all about the
money.

PS. In the end, there's really nothing in a name. I've been in Japan
around
this time of year. There were "Christmas" decorations and music,
including
"Merry Christmas" signs in English, all over the place. Of course,
virually
no one putting up these decorations was Christian, but I guess these
guys would have loved it.
