Object: Merry Mithras! um, er... nevermind
I just wanted to point out that more than 600 years before the
Christians invented their god, there was another god, Mithras, the Son
god.. er, the SUN god.
Anyway, Mithras was born of a virgin mother (fact)
Mithras is the Son... sorry, SUN god.
Shepards were there for his birth
Right around december 25th each year, Mithras dies and is reborn.
Mithras is also known as “the way,” “the Truth,” “the Light,” “the
Redeemer,” “the Messiah,” “the Savior,” “the word,” “the Son of God,”
and ”the Good Shepherd,” Mithras was sometimes pictured carrying a
lamb on his shoulders. Sunday was sacred to the followers of Mithras
and called it “the Lord’s Day”
So MERRY MITHRAS EVERYONE (and tiny tim too)
(Don't even get me started on the myth that Mithras was based on!)

Archaeology does not record the Roman cult of Mithras before around 80
AD.

Anyway,Mithraswas born of a virgin mother (fact)

Mithras was born of a ROCK.

Mithrasis the Son... sorry, SUN god.

Well, which is it?

Shepards were there for his birth

Not according to the ancients.

Right around december 25th each year,Mithrasdies and is reborn.

Not in ancient literature he is not. This idea is only advanced by
the stupidest, most dishonest or most gullible moderns.

Mithrasis also known as "the way," "the Truth," "the Light," "the
Redeemer," "the Messiah," "the Savior," "the word," "the Son of God,"
and "the Good Shepherd,"

No ancient text so refers to him.

Mithraswas sometimes pictured carrying a
lamb on his shoulders.

Nope. He was nearly always pictured killing the bull.

Sunday was sacred to the followers ofMithras
and called it "the Lord's Day"

Nope.

So MERRYMITHRASEVERYONE (and tiny tim too)

(Don't even get me started on the myth thatMithraswas based on!)

James, Seattle, Washington, USA, Earth

Evidently a parallel earth.
Isn't it strange how badly educated all these atheists are? Any text
book, any internet search, would cast doubt on all this stale old
nonsense.
All the best,

One fine day in alt.atheism, RainLover <SP-AMB-LOCKrainlover@raincity.com>
bloodied us up with this:

Mithras is the Son... sorry, SUN god.

What bothers me here is if "son" and "sun" rhymed in the Persian language
native to the area from whence Mithras came. Now *that* would be the icing
on the cake.
