Since quitting the Navy six months early at age 27 so he could run for
Congress on an antiwar platform, John Kerry has built a political
career on his service in Vietnam. His unsuccessful 1970 congressional
bid lasted only a month, during which it proved impossible for even he
to get to the left of the winner, Robert Drinan, but it forged a
conflicting political persona - one hammered out between his combat
medals earned in the Mekong delta and the common cause he made with
the enemy upon his return home.
Now, at age 60, the junior Democratic senator from Massachusetts is
milking his veteran status once again in an effort to show that he's
tougher and more patriotic than the man he seeks to replace, President
George W. Bush. And, as unrepentant as ever for his pro-Hanoi
activism, he is just as conflicted in 2004 as he was in the 1960s.
If there is any consistency in Kerry's political career, it is his
in-your-face use of that four-month stint in Vietnam. He enlisted like
many other young men of privilege, trying to serve without going to
the front lines. When in 1966 it looked like his draft number was
coming up during his senior year at Yale University, and already
having spoken out in public against the war, Kerry signed up with the
Navy under the conscious inspiration of his hero, the late President
John F. Kennedy. As a lieutenant junior grade, Kerry skippered a
CTF-115 swift boat, a light, aluminum patrol vessel that bore a
passing resemblance to PT-109. He thought he'd arranged to avoid
combat. "I didn't really want to get involved in the war," he later
would tell the Boston Globe. "When I signed up for the swift boats,
they had very little to do with the war. They were engaged in coastal
patrolling, and that's what I thought I was going to do."
Kerry: Service Should Not Be "Litmus Test" For Leadership. Mr.
President, you and I know that if
support or opposition to the war were to become a litmus test for
leadership, America would never
have leaders or recover from the divisions created by that war. You
and I know that if service or
nonservice in the war is to become a test of qualification for high
office, you would not have a Vice President, nor would you have a
Secretary of Defense and our Nation would never recover from

But Now Kerry Constantly Challenges The Stature Of His Democratic
Opponents Over Their Lack Of Military Service. And more than ever,
Mr. Kerry is invoking his stature as a Vietnam veteran as he
challenges the stature of his Democratic opponents -- none of whom, he
frequently points out, have ‘worn the uniform of our country’ -- to
withstand a debate with Mr. Bush on national security. (Adam

brainwashed follower's eyes. Conservatives are so desperate for

Sun Myung Moon has paid ex-presidents, such as George Herbert Walker
Bush up to $10,000,000 for photo-op and endorsements, because his
virtually captive followers have very restricted access to news. They
are told that everybody Moon shakes hands with has accepted Moon as
their lord and savior. This global slave labor force replenishes a $10
million expense for faked stage setting photo-op in a couple of days.

DemocRATs absolutely do not want to see any private health care plans
compete against Medicare. Bear in mind, nobody will be required to
participate in a private plan. The DemocRATs are afraid, though, that
some seniors will. Now if those seniors like their experience with a
private plan, they may tell other seniors. They do talk, you know.
Then other seniors will join the private plan, enjoy their experience,
and tell even
more seniors. DemocRATs are scared to death that these private sector
plans may do such a good job competing against the inefficiencies of
government that they will see more, then more and then more seniors
bailing from Medicare to go to the private sector.
Think about the last four or five presidential elections. In every
single one of those elections you have heard DemocRATs sound two very
familiar themes. In the last days of those campaigns the DemocRATs
will tell senior citizens that the evil Republicans have a secret plan
(it's always a secret plan) to destroy Social Security and to destroy
Medicare. And every single year senior citizens get the cat food
scared out of them and rush to the polls to vote for DemocRATs just to
save their Social Security and their Medicare. Question: How will
these DemocRATs be able to frighten senior citizens with lies about
secret plans if the seniors are relying on the private sector for
their health insurance?
DemocRATs are the party of big overbearing government. DemocRATs will
support any program that increases government power. DemocRATs can be
relied on to oppose any proposal that would reduce the political power
that comes with government control. They oppose competition for
Social Security, they oppose competition with their precious
government indoctrination centers they call schools, and they oppose
any threat of competition with Medicare or interference with their
plans for socialized medicine in the
United States.
Do you need more proof of the DemocRATs love of government and their
HATRED of the private sector? Just pay close attention to DemocRAT
presidential front-runner Howard Dean. Just this week he was calling
for a massive re-regulation of American business. The economy is
growing, businesses are expanding, people are finding jobs ... and
Howard Dean wants the government to step in and re-regulate American
business.
Are these the clowns you're going to support in next year's election?
Don't Republicans off the hook here either. They went into this fight
with plans to tie the prescription drug benefit to participation in a
private Medicare plan. They came out with a watered down idea of
setting up some sort of a demonstration plan for private sector
competition in just six American cities. There will be so much
political interference with these "demonstrations" that they are
doomed to failure.
Do you know that Medicare is going to spend $13 trillion dollars more
than it takes in payroll taxes over the next 75 years? This
prescription drug benefit will bring that up to about $20 trillion.
That doesn't bother you though, does it? After all, you'll be
long-dead. Let your grandchildren solve this mess.
Yeah, that's the spirit.
