Don't worry, Bush is bringing democracy to the Middle East.
All he is bringing is more chaos, destruction and death. The Texas Twit
is too dim to realize that he can't wave a magic wand, say "democracy"
and undo 1300 years of history.

On Radio4 here in the UK we get a theist spot in the morning news.
Christians calling for restraint on both sides and understanding between

It's ALL religion, not just islam. Perhaps the one good thing to come out of
all this, when it's finally over. Might just be that the majority will see
that it is theism that is the problem.
Could this period we are in be the last throes of religion?

You don't. You start passing laws restricting immigration.
No more yabbering imams spreading hate. No more demonstrators
demannding death.
With the embassies burned, you pull out.
No more visas, no more immigration.
The problem solves itself.
The pathetic tiddly amounts of money
to be earned in Syria or Egypt aren't worth the trouble
really.
Many of these hell holes are going to undergo ecological
collapse soon anyway, and overpopulation.
Many already have steep illiteracy problems.
Deal with the oil nations as little as possible,

between the British Empire and Tsarist Russia. Through the discovery
of oil and the Saddam years it is now finally all breaking down.
Demonstrators in London calling for the beheading of people who
insult
Islam and our police do nothing. If I went into parliament square with
a "Eat the Rich" sign I would be nicked so fast my feet wouldn't touch
the ground!
I can't see any way back from here. The last global war, The Cold
War, was
between two conflicting political ideologies. This century it's
religion. Sheesh! At least Stalin existed! You can't asassinate a
mythical being. And the one thing that we're facing that is totally
outside our experience this time is that to die for allah is a bonus!
Fighting an enemy that is truly unafraid to die. Communist Bloc & NATO
troops would be happy to wave the white flag if needs be. it's
different this time. It's the one thing that could not happen without
religion. Like the 911 hijackers, they're sure of going straight to
heaven. (Bush called them cowardly, I can see nothing cowardly in
flying a plane into a building and facing certain death without
flinching)
It's the religiosity of both sides that is to blame for the mess
we are
in. Bush & Blaire publicly admit to being theists. And theism is the
very bedrock of the terrorist threat from Islam. The irony of both
sides shouting "Allah Akhbar" and "With God on Our Side" as they kill
each other has been noted since the original crusades. It's still
happening.
On Radio4 here in the UK we get a theist spot in the morning news.
Christians calling for restraint on both sides and understanding
between religions. Sickening! Not able to see that they are part of
the problem. It's ALL religion, not just islam. Perhaps the one good
thing to come out of all this, when it's finally over. Might just be
that the majority will see that it is theism that is the problem.
Could this period we are in be the last throes of religion?
That very well may be decided in this conflict. But it's still possible
for reason to lose.

You don't. You start passing laws restricting immigration.
No more yabbering imams spreading hate. No more demonstrators

With the embassies burned, you pull out.
No more visas, no more immigration.
The problem solves itself.
Well, the problem isn't solved, but those areas with embargoes for visas

I don't know. IMO, as long as there is inequality-there will be
religion. I've noticed that most of the nations that are truly secular
in nature are educated and wealthy. It also seems that religions are
growing larger, mostly by replacing aboriginal nature worship in
cultures just beginning to stratify (due to `modernization' of
technology). For example, consider Africa. More and more people give up
life on the land due to war and unfair trade practices. They move to
the cities, and inequality inevitably ensues. Who's wating for them
there, as they despair?
Priests, that's who. One of our regular trolls here points out that
Christianity is the fastest growing religion on Earth. He's right, but
not for the reasons he thinks he is. Christianity and Islam are growing
like mad among the portions of the world where technologies such as
indoor plumbing is just a silly dream. IMO, we'll never rid the world
of religion until we start working on some of these greater humanistic
problems.
OTOH, I hope Europe gives `em such a fit that it'll no longer be
considered polite to speak of religion in a democratic society! <g>
