Former Youth Pastor Sentenced To 35 Years

BETHANY, Okla. -- A former youth pastor will spend 35 years in jail
for touching young girls at the First Church of the Nazarene in
Bethany.
On Tuesday afternoon, Ryan Wonderly walked into an Oklahoma County
courtroom to face the judge for his crimes.
Wonderly was accused of molesting several young girls over a period of
several years. Without admitting guilt, he did apologize.
"I am truly sorry that my poor judgment and my immaturity has caused
these families and these children such pain, and hope that they can
find healing," he said.
Before passing judgment, court Judge Twyla Mason Gray gave her own
assessment of Wonderly's apology: "I think Mr. Wonderly today has
shown some concern for the victims and has expressed for me a remorse,
even while he denies responsibility."
The prosecution wanted Wonderly to serve 50 years, but the prosecuting
attorney tells KOCO he is pleased with the sentence.
