Okla. Pastor Arrested on Lewdness Charge
By Associated Press
OKLAHOMA CITY --
A pastor who has spoken out against homosexuality was arrested after
propositioning a male undercover police officer outside a hotel,
authorities said.
As the Rev. Lonnie Latham, 59, left jail Wednesday, he said "I was set
up. I was in the area pastoring to police."
Latham, a member of the Southern Baptist Convention's executive
committee, was arrested Tuesday and charged with offering to engage in
an act of lewdness, Capt. Jeffrey Becker said.
Calls to Latham and his South Tulsa Baptist Church were not returned
for comment.
Latham has supported a convention directive urging members to befriend
gays and lesbians and try to convince them that they can become
heterosexual "if they accept Jesus Christ as their savior and reject
their 'sinful, destructive lifestyle.'"
The Southern Baptist Convention is the nation's largest Protestant
denomination.
Messages left for the convention were not returned.

This is so weird. I'm straight, never had a gay urge in my life, but I
don't see any reason to go out and convert people who are gay to my
straight style. Such thinking is as unfathomable to me as wondering what
the world looks like to an echolocating bat.

Moonbats like Latham don't have echolocation. They just crash into things

His denial of responsibility is equal to Christian's proclaiamtions
that when they rape women, it's because the women tempted them.

Oklahoma City, OK -- January 6, 2006 -- The Baptist General Convention
of Oklahoma was notified late Thursday by Lonnie Latham that he was
resigning from the BGCO Board of Directors effective immediately.
Latham’s resignation comes following his resignation at South Tulsa
Baptist Church. In his official letter of resignation to the BGCO,
Latham stated the following: I submit to you my resignation from the
Board of Directors and as Recording Secretary for personal reasons.
We are deeply saddened by the recent events regarding Lonnie. We
continue to be concerned for South Tulsa Baptist Church and the Latham
family. We pray Lonnie will find healing and restoration as he seeks
help for the issues he faces, said Heidi B. Wilburn, spokeswoman for
the BGCO. Lonnie’s resignation has been accepted without the BGCO
Board of Directors having to take initiative regarding the matter.
Lonnie also indicated he has resigned from the Executive Committee of
the Southern Baptist Convention.

Yeah, he pays for homosexual sex with prostitutes -- which shouln't
be a crime but it's certainly hypocricy since he's a homophobic bigot.
