I think some of their esoteric stuff is rather more interesting than the
bulk of Christian theology, with Mr and Mrs God, multiple planets,
Grandpa and Grandma God, cosmic wars, and the chance for salvation
AFTER you die and find out they were right all along. Oh, and not to
forget all that begetting one will do after they become gods themselves
and get to create and populate their own planet.
Besides I love at least one of them (more if I count her children) as my
sweetie was brought up Mormon.

It was a subject that neither of us broached in the 5 years we knew each
other. Then a few months ago when she was over visiting prior to the
day's event of being my date at a wedding, she asked me point blank
about my thoughts about god, etc. It was then that I learned that
there was a renegade side to her family. She has been all along (with
one of her daughters) a Wiccan, but brought her other children up as
Mormon. And participates in the Mormon social life for support. Her
aunt, it turns out is some Wiccan high priestess who was passing as a
Rosacrution at family events.
I guess that is a long answer to YES.

First you should check out the Skeptics Annotated Book of Mormon
Then you might ask them some of the following:
(1) Will they be attempting to engage in anal intercourse with you, like
Joseph Smith did with several of his male "underlings".
(2) If Joseph Smith had a magic stone that allowed him to translate
things like hieroglypics, as he claimed, then clearly the Rosetta stone
would have been unnecessary, so why didn't Smith beat Champollion to
translating the Egyptian writing system?
(3) Why, when Smith translated the golden tablets from the angel
"Moroni", did the translation come out sounding like a very poor and
stilted victorian/king james version of English?
(4) If "native americans" are really part of the lost tribe of Israel,
as the Book of Mormon (BoM) claims, then why do they lack genetic markers
for semites and instead have close genetic affinities with people from
the orient?
(5) Do they really believe that god will one day make the skin of other
"colored" races "white and delightsome" ?

Yup. Until 1973 (or 74, I don't recall), Blacks could be members of the Mormon
church but were forbidden from joining the priesthood, which was mandatory for
non-black men. The rationale was that their black skin showed them inherently to
be too sinful to be a priest. That was changed by "divine revelation" about the
same time the LDS church began extensive missionary work in Brazil, the
Caribbean and Africa.

I remember the very night god made his revelation. It was a few minutes
before midnight at which time the US Supreme court was going to revoke
their religious exemption and pay taxes as a business because of
discrimination. With sweat streaming down his forehead, and minutes
before the Supreme Court was ready to stomp their heavy heal of
justice, the head mucky muck racoon of the Mormon Church was saved by
the bell. And it couldn't hurt their missionary work in fourth world
countries either.

Joseph Smith certainly appears to have been one. I doubt Mormons will
cop to it, but there is quite a bit of racism built into their religion.

Apparently it's a quote from the book of mormon, 2 Nephi 30:6 which says,
"their scales of darkness shall begin to fall from their eyes; and many
generations shall not pass away among them, save they shall be a white
and a delightsome people". In 1981 the "white and delightsome" part was
redacted to read simply "pure". It's not the only instance of white
supremacy advocated in the book of mormon, of course.

What do you people think about mormons. two mormon guys came to my
door yesterday trying to convert me.
Ask them about their magic underwear. Then ask how 19 year olds can
legitimately call themselves Elders. Then tell them that just this
morning the Angel Moroni brought you some gold tablets, and you are
the leader of a new faith that they have to follow.
Or just tell them that they're trespassing and to get the hell off
your property.
That's my way of handling it. Hanging out here for the last five years
has shown me that, although fun, you can't argue with a brainwashed
religious *****. They only thing you can teach them is that you're
not interested in their religion, and that you don't care if they think
you're going to their hell. This is something that can be achieved
with a sign at the front door, or by answering the door naked,
preferably with an erection.

Or by inviting them in, offering them a beer (by throwing the can at
them - hard) and not letting them go until they have heard your lecture
on how they are worse than the taliban.
With an erection?

Just direct them to the homes of any JWs that you know of.

Or just tell them that you'll listen to their lecture on JW as soon as
you've finished teaching them all about atheism.

Engage them in polite conversation at the door, then after a minute or
so, look back over your shoulder and shout "it rubs the lotion on its
skin, or it gets the hose again!"...

Keep a copy of "Latter Days" handy. Hold it as you open

***** `em until they get to the part of their spiel where they ask
"..well, do you consider Jesus Christ to be your lord and savior?"
Then say "no", and watch them flap their mouths for a minute.

I used to be Mormon before I became an atheist.
Their religion is ***** but they are really nice people. My brother
was a mormon missionary. Just politely tell them you are not interested
and to not come back. They'll leave you alone.
Get a "no soliciting" sign for your door. This will stop new
missionaries from coming...they change out every few months so the new
ones might not know about you.
Despite the nasty things people say missionary boys are just good guys
trying to do what they personally feel is right...they are giving up
two years of their lives for their religion..BE NICE.
