A first for America...The Koran replaces the Bible at swearing-in oath
What book will America base it's values on, the Bible or the Koran?
Devotees of multiculturalism and political correctness who do not see
how damaging to the fabric of American civilization it is to allow
Ellison to choose his own book need only imagine a racist elected to
Congress. Would they allow him to choose Hitler's "Mein Kampf," the
Nazis' bible, for his oath? And if not, why not? On what grounds will
those defending Ellison's right to choose his favorite book deny that
same right to a racist who is elected to public office?
This is outrageous!!!
I can't believe anyone would even consider this... what's next?

He was elected - that's how democracy works. There would be no point in
forcing him to swear on the bible because it would have no meaning to
him, and the oath would be worthless.
I'm a Brit, so I don't know the details of how it works over there but
in the UK courts etc. there are a variety of accepted oaths for the
various major religions and a humanist one for the rest of us. If the
oath is going to mean anything to the swearer then the text must too.

desks in the House chamber and take the other as a group from the
Clerk of the House.

the advent of Our Lord Jesus Christ was not witnessed but by a few

observer there. Did you already think about that? Would God the Father
have something against the middle classes? Of course not, because
Jesus'
family itself, being one of carpenters, belonged to the middle class.
The absence of middle class witnesses on the Nativity scene must
obviously have some other meaning. It is a symbol, but what does it
symbolize? There is another passage in the Bible that can shed some
light on the question. The Apostle Paul says that the devil will attack
us face to face and from our back, from our right and from our left. He
does not say "from above" or "from below". The reign of Satan
is "horizontal". It has no power to harm those who look for shelter
in the bottom of the caves or on the top of the mountains. It has no
power against the humility of the shepherds nor against the inspired
wisdom of the kings. So, my friend, no matter what is your place in
society, Christmas invites you to be a shepherd and a king: to be
humble and to love wisdom. The Lord promised that humble hearts would
be always under His protection and that wisdom would never be overcome
by wickedness.

Yup. Since the entire House is elected every two years they all get
sworn in at once. The full Senate meets to see the third of their
members who have just been through the election cycle take their oath,
again as a group.
