Object: Muslim scholars decry terror
American-Muslim scholars issue a fatwa. Is there any document on this
earth with less credibility or influence? These must be the muslims who
voted Republican.

Muslim scholars decry terror
An influential body of Muslim scholars condemned terrorism and
extremism Thursday in response to recent terrorist acts in London and
Egypt and issued a statement endorsed by more than 120 U.S. Muslim
organizations.
"Islam strictly condemns religious extremism and the use of violence
against innocent lives," said the fatwa, or legal opinion, issued by
the 18-member Fiqh Council of North America. "There is no justification
in Islam for extremism or terrorism."
The key to effecting change among extremists, said Taylor, is to get
Muslim clerics who are respected around the world, such as Sheikh Yusuf
al-Qaradawi of Egypt, to endorse the anti-terror message. Since
America's estimated 2.5 to 6 million Muslims make up only a tiny
percentage of the world's 1.25 billion Muslims, a fatwa issued by U.S.
clerics will probably not have much worldwide influence.
"It will have virtually no impact on a number of hard-line extremist
Muslims in this country and outside of this country who do not respect
the authority of these organizations," he said.

It can be entirely credible. But the scholars have authority over only
those who profess them to be their followers, if the news reports I
read are accurate.

Nobody believes their whines anyway. The Meccamonks are getting paranoid
because they know the next 9/11 will result in their deportation or
indefinite confinement behind razor wire. If they knew what was good for
them they'd leave the U.S. while they still had the chance ---

Closed military bases from the Cold War will suffice until the gas chambers

As for the Muslim threats in the Mideast, you won't hear me complain if the

No but in my country his statements would be very close to becoming
legal matters.

Jews weren't setting off car bombs, hijacking airliners, hollering *death to
the infidel* 24/7, and embarking on *martyr missions,* dipshit. You'll come
to your senses after a few more Bali bombings and maybe an all-Aussie 9/11

No. I claimed you cannot question a command you believe is from your god.

What a foolish statement.

Are you saying if you believe the god issued you a command, you would be
willing to question that command?

I question it more than you do, because by your definition everything you
do is right.

No, not everything I do is right. I question everything I do. Since it has
been demonstrated that I have been wrong in the past, I am confident that I
will be wrong in the future. All I can try to do is make the best decisions
I can given my incomplete knowledge of the situation. And I am aware of this
limitation.
If I understand religion correctly, you have faith, right? That means you

questioning?

I, on the other hand, have to be fair with myself - you don't.

What does "Be fair with myself" mean? Does that mean you have faith that you
will receive undeserved forgivness in the form of a ticket to heaven?

But nice try.

Nice try to what? Get a straight answer out of you?

There would be no atrocity big enough for you to refuse if you believed
the god commanded it.

Wonderful.

Suit yourself - it's your world.

The problem is that unquestioning people like you fly airplanes into
buildings in my world.

Actually, it's people like her who burn others at the stake; that's her
religion's speciality.

No, Christians are way too cowardly to actually do something like
that -- they prefer the old fashion way -- rounding up defenceless
people and slaughtering them unless they agree to convert... In a way
that they do not get injured themselves, (like 5000 soldiers against 500
aboriginals).

Anything that would put that one and only life, and the lives of those
around me, at risk.

So, I graciously answered your question. Will you be polite and return the
favor and answer mine now?

If you believe you cannot be wrong about your religion, then what would you
not do if you believed your god commanded it?

I always found the more interesting question to be, "What would it
take for you to believe that your god was giving you an order to kill
someone?"
Most people seem to hold themselves to inordinately high standards
compared to those in the Bible whom they idolize. For most people,
simply hearing voices telling you to do something isn't enough, even
if it's accompanied with a "certainty" that it's their god speaking.
Most people wouldn't believe such a thing were happening to them.
Which leads to the next question, "What makes them so sure it's ever
happened to anyone _else_?"
