Robert Tilton is all the worst of what you think of when you someone
says "American evangelist." He has it all, fiberglass hair, gaudy
suits, speaking in tongues, bible quotes, and money...he wants money.
In fact, his whole show consists of asking for money. He's very
specific about dollar amounts too. "I can see someone out there with
cancer...send me a $5000 dollar vow of faith and you will be healed!"
stuff like that.
He still shows up on late night TV with reruns...reruns I tell ya
still claiming to be praying for the person with the bad kidneys etc
who really should send him a $1000 vow of faith. And I'm sure that
some idiots are doing it.

and I hate to seem cold-hearted, but I have no sympathy for them. The
world is what it is and there is no magic spell that will make your
problems disappear. If you're stupid enough to be taken in by a piece
of ***** con man like Tilton, you deserve what you get.

I remember seeing a WWII movie called "The Flyer Tigers" back when I was a
kid. There were a couple of disturbing scenes involving Chinese pilots on
the receiving ends of bullets that disturbed the crap out of me. Thank
goodness I've gotten so jaded in my old age :)
That being said, I refused to look at the stupid mirror while I was giving
birth to my kid. The one where they want you to see how well you're
pushing? My remark to that was "Hell no! I don't want to see that?!?!?"
Amazing that kid was ever born :)

I saw a docu a few years ago, had to do with crab fishing in the Bering

all the lines coiled on the deck that are attached to the cages they sink
to the bottom where the crab live. They demonstrated with a very well
acted scenario where a worker got his ankle trapped in a rapidly
uncoiling line and was pulled overboard. They went through the entire
drowning process, right down to the last few minutes when your ears
implode at a depth of 600 feet. I still have occasional nightmares about
it. Reality blows sometimes...

That being said, I refused to look at the stupid mirror while I was
giving birth to my kid. The one where they want you to see how well
you're pushing? My remark to that was "Hell no! I don't want to see
that?!?!?" Amazing that kid was ever born :)

That's what LaMaze (sp?) is for. It keeps the husband from viewing
anything other than the wife's POV.

LOL - LaMaze is a crock! One thing they don't tell you is that you might be
one of those few individuals who goes into labor early and gives birth in 3
1/2 hours, with NO time for a epidural (though I was chanting the word when
I staggered into the hospital). I wish I'd been prepared for that! I still
think the funniest thing was when I staggered downstairs and announced to my
husband that I believed I was in labor, the first thing he did was run
upstairs and take a shower. WTF? :)

Well, no, not me. Even though our friend's sonar was indicating a very
large sea creature in the area, my brother and I still went swimming in the
ocean amongst our parents' ashes as they sank. It would have been a heart-
warming scene if the water hadn't been so damn cold. Heh - Pacific Ocean
current flows south out of the Bering Sea.
In Cancun our tour boat blew an engine, stranding us about a mile off the
coast, so I decided to fare the wait for another boat with a swim in the
Gulf of Mexico. The tour guides didn't tell me why they jumped in with me
and pulled me back into the boat until I was safely aboard, avoiding being
lunch for a Barracuda. I guess some of life's thrills are best not
experienced.

My wife's water broke, that was a pretty good indicator for our first kid,
who ended up being a C-section. I was much more laxed with the second one.
After the natural childbirth I went home, then went out and played golf
with the guys, only to go to the hospital after the game to discover her
room empty - she was already at home, having hitched a ride with a nurse
that got off work about the time she was released. It's been thirteen
years since that blunder, and I'm yet to live it down...
