Here's one of my all-time favorite hymns.....
Dear God,
hope you got the letter, and...
I pray you can make it better down here.
I don't mean a big reduction in the price of beer
but all the people that you made in your image,
see them starving on their feet 'cause they don't get
enough to eat from God,
I can't believe in you because I don't understand
what you are doing. And Trust is dangerous for
people to do.
Dear God, sorry to disturb you,
but... I feel that I should be heard loud and clear.
We all need a big reduction in amount of tears
and all the people that you made in your image,
see them fighting in the street
'cause they can't make opinions meet about God,
I can't believe in you because you don't hear me.
Did you make disease,
and the diamond blue?
Did you make mankind
after we made you?
And the devil too!
Dear God, don't know if you noticed,
but... your name is on a lot of quotes in this book,
and us crazy humans wrote it,
you should take a look,
and all the people that you made in your image,
still believing that junk is true.
Well I know it ain't,

I can't believe in I don't believe in things
I can't control.
I won't believe in heaven and hell.
No saints, no sinners, no devil as well.
No pearly gates, no thorny crown.
You're always letting us humans down.
The wars you bring,
the babes you drown.

and it's the same the whole world 'round.
The hurt I see helps to compound
that Father, Son and Holy Ghost,
is just somebody's unholy hoax,
and if you're up there you'd perceive
that my heart's here upon my sleeve.

I wish life was perfect but I am not willing
to work at making it so. I had rather ***** and

Why am I writing to a God I claim does not exist?

rip-off of the first verse of Sixteen going on Seventeen Reprise,
lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein, as featured in the musical The Sound of
Music, first performed in 1959, when Rippie would have been 13, or at
least going on 13.

permission to pretend to be him, using his biography, his experience,
his lies, his poor use of English, his internet connection and his

The Readers Digest story seems reasonable for the credulous flock, but
it has no evidence to support it and it is uncheckable. Even if I
wrote to the Readers Digest and asked them to verify it what would the
result be? No record. To which Michael would say he cancelled his free
lifetime subscription years ago and the files must have been lost -
but they never repeated the poem. Why should they? It's not a poem its
a verse taken from a Broadway show!
You really expect people to believe that Oscar Hammerstein needed to
copy doggerel from a Texas newspaper written by a boy of 13 or less, a
boy whose only other feats of poetry involve rhyming Martin with
fartin'? Was Oscar Hammerstein a man with no writing skill of his own?
Hmmmm. Let me think: highly talented and skilled lyricist at the peak

No. I'm not going to go away, at least not permanently, as long as Michael
continues to spew his *****, lies, plagiarism and the like unchallenged.
I positively welcome somebody to come in and share the burden with me. There
is nobody better placed than you to do it. You admit you have told him he
was wrong with his tactics. He's still wrong, and you know it. But now you
do not address his wrong-doing, he takes your silence as approval. Silence
is tacit approval.
There's nobody else on this newsgroup except you two, me, and Rippie, all
other comments come via crossposts or Rippie's ridiculously transparent
pseudonyms. It's his newsgroup. How can your uncomplaining presence be
construed as anything other than approval of his tactics? He thinks he's
your friend, he thinks you support him and his antics. To put him straight
you should leave the group or confront him directly.
I don't need "an excuse" for doing the right thing. Standing up against
liars is the right thing. Always.
Why don't you set up a forum where plagiarism, impersonation and personal
squabbles aren't welcome? It's not hard to do.
