About the highest you'll find, if you're seriously searching for it in
an actual store, is Everclear. It's 95%, iirc. As close to moonshine
as I've ever seen. But it's not legally available in all states if
you're in the U.S.

In Mexico years ago I picked up a bottle of cane alcohol, which they
sell in bottles that look like the kind one buys rubbing (isopropyl)
alcohol in. It's 96%. I still have the stuff.
From what I understand, if one were to try to make 100% alcohol, it
would either evaporate due to volatility or absorb enough moisture from
the envrionment to drop down to the lower percentage.

What's the alcohol % in moonshine?
I'd be very leery of anything exceeding 95%, since that's as much as you can enrich
relative alcohol content by distillation (95% mixed with water is an "azeotrope" </needless
geek fact>), so anything more is achieved by adding chemical dessicants. Hair on you
chest, indeed.
