My Letter in the Right Wing Press! |
I today got a letter published in the Daily Mail, taking a vicar's
previous letter to task.
For those who don't know the Mail is a national UK paper that is
generally speaking slightly to the right of Genghis Khan: Think "The
elder brother of The Sun".
Those interested can see it at:

I am very sorry, but to tell you the truth, it's more a matter of
being used to it than anything else.

I'd like to read that. I haven't bothered looking at that particular
paper since they printed a 4 page obit of Sir Oswald Moseley in 1980.

Yes. The Mail was rather keen on him and Adolph at one time.

----------
They didn't understand 'im,
Some people called him mad;
But any friend of Hitler's,
Can't have been all bad.
Baronet Oswald Ernald Moseley!
Baronet Oswald Ernald Moseley!
He was popular and handsome as Richard Burton,
'Cause I saw him on the box once, with his black shirt on.
And though I cannot claim to be any great authority,
As far as I'm concerned the sun shone out of his oratory.
He would've been a great dictator,
Given half a chance;
But they treated him like a traitor,
So he went to live in France.
Baronet Oswald Ernald Moseley!
Baronet Oswald Ernald Moseley!
When they heard he was dead,
This is what the papers all said:
"Genuinely eager to champion the unemployed and other underdogs. Dynamic and
handsome; popular, gifted and a natural leader."
"A brilliant man in the Commons, compassionate and humane, a man of genuine
courage and inspiring leadership."
"Thought to have been the most handsome and gifted British political leader
of the 20th century. A brilliant debater; gifted, lucid and compassionate."

My problem with your response is that you appear to assume the 25,000
Christian sects have nothing at all in common, but are at variance in
every respect both morally and theologically. They at the very least
are centered in Jesus Christ, all read out of the same Book, and the
overwhelming majority subscribe to the 325 & 381 AD Nicene Creed--Roman
Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Anglicans, Lutherans, Reformed,
Presbyterian, Moravian, etc. Augustine is credited with the
synthesizing principle: "In essentials, unity; in non-essentials,
liberty; and in all things, charity." Recognition of our basic unity in
Jesus Christ as well as an appreciation for our non-essential
differences and variety.

You don't get it. The fact that 25,000 interpretations exist of this one
book negates every and all credibility from using it as a reference.
Niels
PS The fact that they are centered around the never-existed Jesus of
Nazareth doesn't add credibility either. http://www.jesusneverexisted.com/

I don't think you get it either. As far as interpretation of the Bible
is concerned, there is far more agreement than disagreement among the
churches. Books written by outstanding Catholic and Orthodox scholars
are read and studied in Protestant seminaries, and visa versa. Good
biblical scholarship is honored no matter what church background the
writer hails from. The differences more often than not are a matter of
which teachings of the Bible are given special emphasis.

You act as though it's science. But it's not. The only worth it has can be a
mythological interpretation, because it isn't history. However you don't do
that either, and in fact you *do* seem to interpret it as history, just like
your statement underneath:

25,000 points of disagreement, is *less(?)* disagreement, than agreement?
Interesting.
