Leading Academics and Authors Call for a National Boycott to Impeach for
Peace
Submitted by davidswanson on Thu, 2007-02-08 14:00. Activism | Impeachment
One of the leading researchers into the agenda and actions of the Bush
Administration, Dr. Peter Phillips, the Director of Project Censored at
Sonoma State University, proposed a new tactic in the ongoing campaign to
hold the administration, their neo-conservative backers,
spin doctors, consultants and henchmen accountable.
It is the belief of the organizers that this Administration must be held to
task for the host of charges that have been levied against them.
Dr.Phillips, a professor of Sociology, has spent his professional career
investigating the origins and purposes of the "Power Elite" in general, and
neo-conservatives in particular.
Phillips struck upon the use of a boycott as a means to draw together all of
those who oppose this administration and their policies. We can not simply
rely on the work of progressive activists. We must bring together all
citizens who feel strongly that crimes have been
committed and an accounting is due.
A boycott is simply a form of non-violent resistance. By simuntaneously
withdrawing our support from the economy, millions of people can have a
dramatic impact on the policies of individual corporations and even national
governments. In 1990, ACT-UP staged a boycott of Phillip Morris that
resulted in providing millions of dollars for AIDS research.
In 1994, a boycott waged against Shell Oil, Kellog's and Coca Cola, helped
to increase the momentum of the anti-apartheid movement. In 1995, the
International Peace Bureau called for a boycott of all French products in
opposition to nuclear testing.
The French wine industry was especially hard hit and the threat of "economic
disruption" spurred President Chirac to sign the Comprehensive Test Ban
Treaty. National polls now show that well over half of ALL Americans believe
that this administration should be impeached. A much higher percentage want
to see this war end and virtually everyone wants to know the truth behind
the events of the last 7 years.
What the people want, and what they get, can be two entirely different
things if left up to the consideration of career politicians.
The marches, books, movies, lectures and petitions all speak directly to the
politicians...and they aren't listening. So let's put pressure on the people
they do listen to 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The boycott provides us with a way to send a wake-up call to the
corporate backers of our political leaders. America, holding back on
our spending for even one week will show the corporate powers that the
people are serious, we are determined and "We're not buying it
anymore". To that end, we are building a network of individuals and
organizations from coast to coast and around the world to support this
action.
By uniting the work of so many millions of people into a single week
of protest in which we make sure that the money talks loud and clear,
we can give fair warning to our representatives that the time for
truth has come, justice is demanded and a full accounting is expected
from Washington and Wall Street.
National Coordinator, Lew Brown, further explained the need for the effort:
"By holding back on our spending with discipline and resolve and in sympathy
for the millions who live in misery because of this administration's
policies, we not only show our concern for the pain of others, we also put a
little fear in the hearts of those who have profited from this travesty."

IMPEACH FOR 9-11 FALSE FLAG OPERATION
Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 2007-02-09 00:08.
In March, Ramsey Clark will lead an impeachment march on the Pentagon. Since
we were lied to about the 9-11 events at the Pentagon, (and since this
heinous "inside job" was used to "justify" the wars, and all other domestic
atrocities),here is a letter written to this group:
This note is to send encouragement and admiration to Ramsey Clark, and the
millions of Americans who are working toward impeachment. Please include the
decent and tenacious "9-11 Truth Seekers" in your march on the Pentagon. You
see, your t-shirts and bumper stickers are imprinted with the words: " Bush
Lied and Thousands Died." These words are MOST definitive of the (100%
provable) heinous, "inside job" crime of 9-11. The synthetic, and
(never-ending) "war on terrorism" was made possible by this horrible "false
flag" operation; and, it is by this sinister deed that the Bush
administration has "justified " all their other atrocities (including the
war in Iraq). Since he is a military man, please ask Ramsey Clark to watch a
one minute video, called "Major General Stubblebine Speaks Out on 9-11
Truth". Also: a short video called "9-11 Inside Job " with military rocket
scientist, Dr. Bob Bowman. (both on You Tube) In fact, there is voluminous
information from reasonable, intelligent, and scholarly sources regarding
the IMPOSSIBILITY of the 9-11 events happening as we were told. We should be
impeaching for the MURDERS in OUR country, as well as the MURDERS of those
on foreign soil. Yes, "Bush Lied. Thousands Died."

Action needs to be taken. I was told by a very Powerful source , that if
everyone stocked up for a week, and didn't go to work, nor buy any gas nor
food etc for a week, that we the people would take our power back and only
have to work 10 hours a week therafter.
I feel a boycott on shopping for a week would be a giant step in making the
world a better place in which to live for all mankind. I thank and praise
you and the like minded multitude of others that are taking a stand for
freedom and righteousness.

I'm impressed with the idea of a nationwide, week-long boycott of the
American economy -- by refusing to shop -- which has been proposed by Dr.
Phillips.
It's obvious the politicians aren't listening to the protests (as good as
they've been lately), because they know that as long as Americans continue
their daily routine (which includes spending themselves into massive debt)
without a care in the world, they can continue to do what they wish and
there won't be a whimper of objection from those who are bearing the brunt
of the Cheney/Bush administration's policies. This has got to change,
because how long can politiciand and their corporate backers continue to do
"business as usual" without any accountability for their actions?
I think the boycott of the American economy will be good, not only in waking
up the politicians and their corporate backers, but it may also reawaken the
spirit of compassion and empathy for others in the American people. The
spirit of compassion and empathy for others which we used to have in
abundance has been allowed to go dormant after too many decades of the
culture of hedonism, self-indulgence and greed, and it's time for the
American people to reclaim that heritage of compassion and empathy for
others.
Also, I'd like to see religious groups encourage their members to join the
boycott. After all, the purpose of religion is to get our eyes and minds off
of ourselves and earthly materialism, and to go about the work of performing
a higher ("heavenly", if you will) mission in life; that of doing for the
other without any thought of getting anything back in return.
Perhaps when corporate America sees that the American people aren't the
undisciplined, selfish, spendthrift louts they count on to keep them wealthy
at the expense of the rest of the world, it may hit them where it hurts the
most ... their bottom line.

Sounds like a good idea. I try to avoid certain big greedy companies as
a rule but it's not always possible. I often wondered about doing what
the Europeans often do. A general strike. Everybody stay home from work
one day, buy nothing, consume no more than you have to. Let the country
grind to a halt. If this is done a sufficient number of times, the
government will notice. I know this would be hard to organize, but
perhaps someone has thought of the idea before. this idea comes close.
I'll deep an eye on it. Thanks, Mickey!

Well, it probably would be an excellent idea for the American people
to hold a general strike, if for no other reason than to demonstrate
to the rest of the world that the American people are not the same or
in concordance with the American government nor with American
corporations. You should go ahead and organize such a process: you
will need to select an appropriate date and choose a simple "sound-
bite" type of message for the day.
