Object: Nature Of Christ: Paul Versus Moses
Moses to the Hebrews
15 The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from
among your own brothers. You must listen to him.
16 For this is what you asked of the LORD your God at Horeb
on the day of the assembly when you said,
"Let us not hear the voice of the LORD our God nor see this great
fire anymore, or we will die."
17 The LORD said to me: "What they say is good.
18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their
brothers;
I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I
command him.
19 If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks
in my name, I myself will call him to account. Deut 18:15-19
Moses quoted by Stephen
37"This is that Moses who told the Israelites,
'God will send you a prophet like me from your own people.'[h]
38He was in the assembly in the desert, with the angel who
spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers;
and he received living words to pass on to us.
51"You stiff-necked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears!
You are just like your fathers: You always resist the Holy Spirit!
52Was there ever a prophet your fathers did not persecute?
They even killed those who FORETOLD the coming of the Righteous One.
And now you have betrayed and murdered him-
53you who have received the law that was put into effect
through angels but have not obeyed it." Acts 7:37-51
Moses quoted by Peter
21He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God
to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy
prophets.
22For Moses said, 'The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet
like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he
tells you.
23Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely
cut off from among his people.'[b] Acts 3:21-23
Moses PARAPHRASED by the Qur'an.
Behold! Allah took the Covenant of the Prophets,
saying: "I give you a Book and Wisdom; then comes to you
a Messenger, confirming what is with you; do you believe him and render
him help."
Allah said: "Do ye agree, and take this my Covenant as binding on you?"
They said: "We agree."
He said: "Then bear witness, and I am with you
among the witnesses." Qur'an 3:81
Christ is a Prophet, other Prophets preceded Him. Qur'an
Paul On Christ
5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature[a] God, did not consider equality
with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing, taking the very nature[b] of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and
became obedient to death- even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave
him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven
and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ
is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Phil 2:5-11
16Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great:
God appeared in a body,[d] was vindicated by the Spirit,
was seen by angels, was preached among the nations,
was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory. 1 Tim 3:16
9For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,
10and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head
over every power and authority.
11In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the
sinful nature,[a] not with a circumcision done by the hands
of men but with the circumcision done by Christ,
12having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him
through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.
col 2:9-12
14May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 cor 13
This last passage provided a ground for the TRINITARIAN DOXOLOGY
and was later translated as:
May the love of the father, the grace of the Son and the fellowship of
of the Holy Spirit be with you.
It was later developped in the Nicea-Constantinople Creed

Him

Someone in the Temple, probably. It just means to apply perfumed oil
to the body. It symbolized consecration to a high cause, but one can
consecrate his life to something with no outside help.

Just like Ashcroft got himself "anointed" by a Supreme Court Justice. With
Crisco oil.
Ashcroft Christ. Who would a' thunk it?

mmmmm... crisco....
Jesus is Lard and Godot. Pass the Jesus. Jesus is Lard of malls. One day
every knee shant bow and every tongue will cunnilingus that Jesus is Lard.
For God so loved the world that he came. His beloved Son then wiped it up
with everlasting Bounty. Praise the Lard for His Mercury Capri. His tooth
will endure to all generalizations. Praise the Lard for all His dressings
and mercury capri. Whoever will cook with Jesus Crisp as their Lard and
Garlic will have everlasting crunch. We have a choice between lite or dark
in our spirits and chips. Some have chosen dark for their clothes. When
their physical melody dies and their spirit goes up in flames, it will be
too late for their croutons. Now is the time to saute' and bar-b-que Crispy
Lard before it is too hard. Praise the Lard from whom all heart attacks
flow. Jesus is Lard. Ahem

The ending would be well-earned.

Possibly, but I really would hate to think of people at some future date
worshiping Ashcroft as savior.
And their poor neighbors, they I would truly pity.

But the Gospels were really big on symbolism. If the storytellers
thought this mattered, they would have made a big deal about it.

The Bible you're familiar with is the Constantinian Bible (or the
Nicene Bible, if you like). There were other "canons" before that.
And there are many Gospels. Most of them contradict each other, so
they can't all be correct.

You can have as many canons of the Gospels as you want but
the Torah has only one CANON on which Christianity was grounded.
It doesn't depends on how many canons you can have.
It depends on this text: "The Lord your God will send you
the Messiah/Christ, a prophet like me, Him you shall listen."
Deut 18:15
