The book Saxons, Vikings and Celts by egomaniac Sykes claims that he
was the first to extract dna from a thousands of years dead human in
1989. Actually in 1985 (NY Times shows) Svante Paabo (better know for
his '90's Neanderthal DNA extraction) found dna in 2400 year old
Egyptian human mummy. Plus, the book claims that Sykes was the fisrt
to conduct a genetic study in the UK in 1996. Luigi Luca Cavalli-
Sforza (sp?) wrote about a DNA study in the UK before 1995.
