Astronomers have found the most Earth-like planet outside our Solar
System to date, a world which could have water running on its surface.

I wonder if SETI is going to focus more radio telescopes on that system now,
in the hopes of picking up some evidence of intelligence.

I did a web search and found it on Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gliese_581
Gliese 581 (pronounced /'gli?z?/) is an M2.5V red dwarf star located
20.4 light years away from Earth. It is about two degrees north of
beta Librae, the brightest star in the constellation Libra. Its mass
is estimated to be approximately a third that of the Sun, and with
respect to Earth, is the 87th known closest star system.[4] The star
system recently gained attention after Gliese 581 c, the first low
mass extrasolar planet found to be in its star's habitable zone, was
discovered in April 2007[5].
It has since been shown that Gliese 581 c will almost certainly have a
runaway greenhouse effect, and would not be habitable. However, Gliese
581 d is near the outer edge of the habitable zone. [6] Observations
suggest that the star has at least three planets.

Nope.

Too bad. The character played by Joe Pesci is talking to the judge and is
trying to say "The two youths", meaning the young men he's doing a terrible
job of representing - but it comes out "Da two yutes" ;)

Oh, I get it now.
The strange thing is that many utes are owned by youths.

Nope.

It was as near an accurate quote as makes no difference. Grabbing it out of the vapor at that
moment evoked the accent (the tall guy who was "Muldoon" in the US tv prog. "Car 54, Where Are
You?", hundreds of years ago, then featured in "The Munsters," plays a judge in Alabama, trying
an armed robbery-murder case) and the facial expression to fine comic effect.
In the film, the Joe Pesci character (Vinnie) appearing for the defense has just posed a
question about "two yoots," trying to establish that the perps needn't have been his two young
defendants. Geoff has recalled the judge's reaction, struggling against the Alabama vs.
Brooklyn language barrier.
I'd rather you'd seen the film.
