Secular Inmate Education Outreach for Prisoners
About this Ring
''It is particularly critical for foreigners incarcerated in places like
Thailand where the only real assistance available is via missionaries or
ministers. Many of the foreigners are left to suffer because they wont take
bible class. - Tony '' We hope to network and bring about support in the
Secular Community, by means of cards, letters and educational articles for
inmates who make the request. We welcome websites which focus on educational
materials to reach inmates.

Anyone who's been reading this thread and interested to help... everything
is online now for helping prisoners in/by the Secular Community.
Here's an inmate named Keith that needs your correspondence, cards and
ESPECIALLY educational articles. (The prisons are overflowing with such
people!)

that actually helps people get their ***** out of a victim's chair and start
doing something productive with their experience and life)

Searched the web for humanist minister secular. Results 1 - 10 of about
14,900
Not uncommon.
However, the intention is to provide a (Secular) educational reading
material/outreach to/for Inmates. Got a webpage that explains how bees turn
pollen into honey? It's welcomed... or maybe you have a webpage that
explains what plate tectonics are... or maybe you've got a webpage that
discusses why heat makes bread rise... scientifically... there's a million
subjects that could fit within "Secular Ministry"... If a Christian inmate
writes with interest to be listed for receiving penpals, literature, etc.
they won't be turned away. Family members can log on, and tell about their
loved one, the same as anyone else can. Everyone is welcomed. If they
request literature, they'll receive articles, and those articles will be
secular in nature. I've written inmates for about two decades, and I
understand their need to have friends and people who care... that's where
the "ministry" comes in. The internet is overflowing with educational
material on it... and there's so much fear of "Copyright Violations" every
where you turn... so we've got a webring that takes in pages from webmasters
that will grant permission on their article to be reprinted and shared with
inmates for educational purposes. Ministering to the minds and hearts of
inmates in prisons. According to the statistics I've read, many family
members quit writing or visiting prisoners after 3 years.... when a letter
arrives, you can ask those fellows / ladies behind bars, if it's a
"ministry" or not. It's not just the article, it's the people who cared
enough to write it, make it available, and send it to these guys.

One who is concerned with the interests and welfare of humans.
--
min·is·tra·tion ( P ) Pronunciation Key (mn-strshn)

See minister.]
min·is·try ( P ) Pronunciation Key (mn-str)
n. pl. min·is·tries

Maybe we can't feed hungry mouths --- but there's plenty of hungry minds
behind bars.

She's right. The concept of a secular ministry isn't an oxymoron,
even though it sounds that way due to the fact that ministries are
normallly associated with religions.

Well maybe there's some good Secular Samaritans out there, (when you get the
opportunity), to test something out for us... and let us know if there's any
problems on equipment/printers...
http://www.skeptical-christian.net/lectures/declaration_independence.html
is one article I definately want to get out into the prison system.
Beautiful, educational article by Ingersoll. On the Navigation Bar(s) I'll
be placing (and maybe those who join the webring can too)... a printer
friendly version of the article.
I had trouble printing out this webpage in it's original format above... it
was cutting off the end of the article. I visited one newspaper website, and
their "printer friendly webpage" was spread across my screen... I've got one
of those larger monitors... you have to make webpages smaller for people
with smaller monitors (or they have to scroll).
http://fundamentalists-anonymous.us/printer/pfv_declaration_of_independence.
html
is a webpage which is formatted for the printer version (like the
newspaper's format)... it's linked to the first webpage on the Navigation
bar... I'm no computer expert. I have a Hewlett Packard, deskjet 825c ... I
don't know what will happen if anyone prints out that article on a different
printer. All I know is on my browser, I can click on print, and comes out
beautifully... the other webpage, gets cut off at the ends of the document.
I also included in my robots.txt file, not to index /printer.... any experts
out there, with any helpful advise on how to properly make a
printer-friendly version webpage? Anything I need to do or doing wrong? If
anyone is good enough to do that... print the printer/ page and tell us if
there's any complication with a particular printer? This is all quite new to
me.

This webpage was a collection of mostly informed comments from usenet, and
some excerpts from scientific sources --- and if you visit you'll see the
logo from the webring at the bottom of the page. Many inmates have never had
exposure to such simple information.
The webring logo is accompanied by a simple statement
"Permission is granted to reprint this article for purpose of redistributing
to inmates."
Consider joining an educational webpage of any nature to our webring.
There's a lot of educated people on usenet, which can help to make a great
difference in the lives of others. Please think about this effort... it
needs you to make it work.
