In national news outlets, only 7 percent of journalists call themselves
conservative. Does that deepen a trust gap?

About as relevant as whether the waiter in a steak restaurant is a
vegetarian.
How many conservatives are there among the reporters at Fox News? Who
cares, all that matters is that Rupert Murdoch is conservative.
How many conservatives on the staff of CNN? Who cares, what matters is the
direction coming down from management at Time-Warner.
ABC News may have some liberals on it's staff, but it's the bosses at Disney
whose opinions matter and set direction.

That is due to "education." Reporters are educated. They see real
life. They see the misery caused by conservative policies.
Education is the biggest forecaster of political affiliation. Studies
also show that the less educated one is the more likely one is to be
conservative. (Which, I guess, explains those good old boys who
support dragging those "niggers" behind their pick up trucks, racism,
and Bush.)
And that right wing "study" of yours also said few reporters claim they
are liberals, too. Being uneducated, you may have missed that.

The danger for what the press derisively calls the 'Religious Right' is that they are making the same mistakes the religious left made. To solve the moral problems of the nation they are looking to government rather than the Creator of their faith and His strategies.

Who knows - these groups have 'slighted' the thread orginator in some
way and so they are punishing them by starting 'push button' threads
crossposted to them. People respond to the hot topic and never bother
to look at the groups they are crossposted to.
I try never to respond to a Xomicron thread on topic because of this -
if he really wanted to discuss these subjects he would crossposting
them intelligently.

Hardly. The conservative values tradition and individualism. Nothing wrong
with that. The conservative believes that if a whole town wants to have a
church practicing a certain faith, they have the right to do so unmolested
by a bunch of trouble makers, who should also have the right to run their
own church the way they want to, as long as they keep it in the next county.
Nothing wrong with that. The conservative believes that it's a man's duty
to realize his own potential, to do all he can do for God and country, and
to lead an exemplary life in his community, and a woman's duty to do the
same in her own God given domain. Nothing wrong with that.

Hardly. The conservative values tradition and individualism.

If you conform to their narrow defintion of individualism i.e.
continuing to do, that which was traditionally done long after it was
proven that it was wrong to do it that way and trying to control
others to continue to do it the traditional way.

Nothing wrong
with that. The conservative believes that if a whole town wants to have a

Depends on the amount and type of force used to make people lead an
"exemplary life" ( who's definition of exemplary are we using? Plato,
Jesus, Moses?).
Are we burning people at the stake, burning crosses, whipping,
lynching? etc. The list of conservative methods to get people to
conform to their standart of individualism, are endless.
