I, for one, see it just as you do. The difference is I realize that it wasn't
-meant- to be uplifting. Yes, it was a personal attack, and as long as one
isn't basing their entire argument on that, there's nothing "wrong" or "invalid"
about it. It's when people are actually trying to make a point using such
attacks - and nothing else - that it isn't right. This was nothing more than a
little fundie-bashing intended for those who find such amusing. It wasn't meant
for fans of Coulter or her ilk, just like a Coulter speech isn't intended to
amuse or uplift liberals and their ilk. So criticizing it because it doesn't do
something it wasn't intended to do in the first place is just a bit "odd".
Coulter's speeches & essays do nothing for me, but they're not supposed to. So
I don't criticize them for not expressing my views. I may criticize them for
other things, but that's a different matter.

And there you have it. The claim that punches a huge hole in the heart
of the book. Most liberals *are* religious. In the U.S., they tend to
be Christian. So, she's partly right: liberals by and large *do* belong

poorly written books at the top. Why? Because Americans are generally
stupid and easily amused. Stephen King, John Grisham, and Michael
