Former Nun Alleges Priest Raped Her 40 Years Ago

STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- A former nun and retired teacher is accusing a Long Island
priest of raping her nearly 40 years ago.
Anne Tucker taught third grade at what was Saint Anthony's School in East
Northport. Rev. Augustine Sheehan was an associate pastor at Saint Joseph's in
Ronkonkoma.
The two knew each other through mutual friends in Stony Brook.
Tucker says in 1965, Sheehan offered her a ride from Stony Brook to her East
Northport boarding house. The then-26-year-old nun said somewhere on Pulaski
Road, the priest pulled over and raped her.
About 20 years later, she wrote of the abuse in a letter to Rockville Centre
diocese officials, but said she never heard a reply.
She also said she spoke to the Pastoral Intervention Team in 2002, but never
gave testimony to the review board.
Rockville Centre diocese officials says Sheehan has been on administrative leave
since 2002 when the allegations surfaced. He has previously worked in many Long
Island parishes.

No one has said the priest was guilty. However, what I think is a crime is the
way this woman was ignored by the higher ups in the church.

No one has said the priest was guilty. However, what I think is a crime is the

So the heading "Nun-raping Priest" doesn't say that the guy is guilt?
