Olbermann Calls out Bush on Iran Lies. |
In case you missed it. Bush lied his tush off again, or more accurately,
as usual. And after he was caught, he and his flunkies are still lying.

What is wrong with people today? If a comment is longer than thirty
seconds or a newspaper article is more than three paragraphs, they get
bored and tune out. I recall reading that in the 19th century, it was
possible for political speeches to last for hours. Never work in our
instant gratification society.

Coming from the king of idiocy, that's a compliment.
Meanwhile, in the real world, Iran remains a threat:
http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/archives/016232.php
France, Germany Still Consider Iran A Threat
Despite the surprising conclusion of the American intelligence committee
that Iran suspended its push for nuclear weapons, both France and Germany
insisted that Iran represents a real threat. Nicolas Sarkozy still wants
to impose harsher sanctions, although Angela Merkel would not commit to
supporting another round at the moment. The two EU powers want Iran to
end its uranium enrichment:
"Iran continues to represent a threat," Mrs Merkel said during a
joint news conference with Mr Sarkozy in Paris.
She did not specifically express support for a new UN sanctions
resolution against Iran, which the US is calling for. ....
Mr Sarkozy said he agreed with his German counterpart that Iran still
posed a danger, and that he supported the push for more sanctions.
"Notwithstanding the latest elements, everyone is fully conscious of
the fact that there is a will of the Iranian leaders to obtain nuclear
weapons.
"What made Iran move up to now, it was sanctions and firmness," he
said.
The statements show that the NIE has made little difference in the
international evaluation of Iranian nuclear research. No one feels that
the mullahs will simply give up their desire to wield nuclear power and
shift the balance of power in the Middle East sharply in their favor.
France, Germany, and Britain spent years attempting to convince Iran to
allow verification of the shutdown of the program, offering a wide range
of economic concessions. If Iran had nothing to hide, why not take
advantage of the offers in 2003, 2004, or 2005?
If pressure and sanctions convinced the Iranians to shelve the nuclear-
weapons research temporarily, then it would be madness to back away now.
Iran has not acknowledged its previous work on nuclear weapons, much as
they hid it for years until a dissident group exposed the program in
2003. No one trusts them now when they claim they have only pursued
peaceful nuclear power, and so France and Germany -- two nations that
rely on trade with Iran -- still want to keep Iran isolated.
It provides a helpful reminder that the danger has not passed. As long as
Iran enriches uranium and builds ever-larger centrifuge cascades, they
can build a weapon fairly quickly. They bought the knowledge from the AQ
Khan network, and they already have the missile platform for delivery.
The issue may not be as acute as first thought, but the danger remains
real -- and even if some Americans don't take it seriously, Iran's
European trading partners still do.

He said nothing about not reading it, you idiot.
You apparantly often don't *think* about the things that you read, or
write. But that comes as no surprise.
Poor Fred. Made another false claim and now tries to run from his idiocy.
He didn't say that he didn't read it, or that he refused to read it. I
think he was just amazed as what you consider a valid source.
But don't let that stop you from determining for others what they did or did

Get help Fredo. You need it.

Well, let's see, the first 30 seconds of KO's ridiculous rant contained
two blatant pieces of misinformation.
First was that Bush was threatening WWIII. He wasn't threatening. He was
stating a fact. If Iran gets a bomb then WWIII will follow, as night
follows day.
Second was that "Bush had to have known". He had been briefed about
unconfirmed reports. The information in the NIE wasn't fully confirmed
and vetted until just a few days ago.
Following that is eight minutes of hysterical stupid-mongering.

You're talking about the intel. Well the intel was confirmed
Looooooooong before the NIE was completed.
Bush was actually tipped about the information back in
August. A retro reading of his remarks revealed a change
in his language -- reflecting the reality of the new
information -- starting back then... in august.
The information in the NIE wasn't fully confirmed
and vetted until just a few days ago.
Wrong. The NIE was like a college paper (you remember
them, don't you). First the collected all the facts -- as in
"Confirmed Intel" -- next they decide what it means, and
finally they type it all out on a paper and call it "The NIE."
The biggest difference between the NIE and your college
paper of yesterdecade, of course, is that it has many,
many, many authors. Another way of putting it: It's real
easy to drag things out, the writing of the NIE.
Which, apparently, was the case here. Some sources are
claiming that the NIE was actually completed at least a
year ago, and Cheney -- or other neo-cons -- stalled it all
they could.

You assume that Iran would fire the missiles in attack, unprovoked or
as a first strike.
No, I don't assume that.
Then what essentially makes Iran having nuclear weapons any different
from the US, Russia(in 14 republics), Great Britain, France, China,
India, Pakistan, or Isreal? The only one to use it was the USA.
As fucked up as it is, Iran is more stable than Pakistan. I my view,
Pakistan worries me more than the rest, next in risk is the (estimated
1995) 27,000 scattered nukes in the former USSR.
Anybody possessing nukes is a risk, using them is the actual problem
though. I would prefer nobody had them, there are no winners.
How the ***** do you know?
They said so themselves.
There's debate about that. Even with the apparent fucktard beliefs of
the holocaust, he may have meant that Isreal should not have been
created as it was and it is destined to fail as it is now, as in it
will eventually be overrun by the peoples of the region. For probably
different reasons I can't disagree much with the creation objection,
the religious motivation and justification rubs me wrong. There could
have been a better process somehow.
Do you seriously think
they are so stupid not to know that they will be a giant piece of
glass if they tried that? The USA would snap to it instantly, and
Isreal might even lob a few. They know this is a fact. They have
reason to be nervous, look what the hell is happening next to them.
I bloody well hope that it makes them nervous.
I don't want any countries to acquire nukes, and I believe current
nuke nations should phase them out entirely, but I understand the
Iranian desire to have the defense option. Everyone would like having
it I suppose. Given the rhetoric and recent history, if they had nukes
GWB and Darth Cheney would not be so bellicose. Of course they are
nervous, and the US generated the majority of that fear in them,
that's not exactly a point in the US's favor, acting the bully and
bitching that the preferred next victim of aggression will stand up to
the bully to the best of its ability. Who the ***** made the USA
judge/jury/executioner of the world? The USA is not very good at it
except for the executioner part.
I don't like any theocracy, and I think Iran is fucked up, but
concluding that they are complete idiots is not too smart.
They have said that they would welcome an attack on Iran
because it would facilitate the return of the Twelfth Imam.
And we have a lot of Americans wanting to hasten the end days. They
are not exactly silent or powerless people in that group. Plenty of
sheepish followers here that don't stand up and bitchslap those
people. So we have fucked up statements on both sides, it doesn't make
either one right. Iran might be spouting that ***** in bravado, and
doesn't actually want to blow up the world. It wouldn't suffice to
talk tough by saying they will fart in our general direction. I can't
say if either one is bullshitting or not about end days/twelfth imam,
the ones on our soil sound like they are sincere. Insane, but sincere.
I'd consider the Iranian statement more significant if we didn't have
similar stupidity, to me it's hypocritical to ignore ours while
screaming about theirs.
If they were as rational as you say they are, they would have been more
forthcoming about their nuclear development.
And let's face it, they haven't stopped enriching uranium or stopped
developing missiles that can deliver a bomb if they manage to build one
(or more than one).
Pointing big guns at them is not the smartest way to resolve it. They
have the right to nuclear power, they can be brought to international
compliance without the warmongering and bully *****. Our
transparency is questionable to say the least. This is arguably the
most secretive administration we've had, and has been known to *****
with data to suit their ideology. We hide *****, they hide *****.
Minimizing the reasoning for their perceived need for such weaponry is
something we can work at. Bushco has made that much harder to do now.
Second was that "Bush had to have known". He had been briefed about
unconfirmed reports. The information in the NIE wasn't fully confirmed
and vetted until just a few days ago.
That he was told new info is coming that might change their
assessment, and wasn't questioned by Bush, and nobody clued Bush in
that his ratcheted rhetoric should be cooled shows that either Bush is
an idiot, or his support staff are idiots, or both.
Bush ordered them to verify the information ASAP.
ASAP after Darth Cheney quashed it for a year? It appears
he/they/somebody was pushing for it to say what they wanted it to say,
or at least ambiguity they could exploit, maybe toss in something like
a Niger yellowcake reference. So maybe bush technically has plausible
deniability, he's still *****-poor. Maybe we finally have intelligence
agencies less willing to bend to the bushco ideology.
It looks much like they want to create their own reality like they did
with Iraq. How much of a pariah does Bushco want the USA to be?
When did Bush ever wait for anything to be fully confirmed before? He

That's the haze over your own vision when you hear the name of the
President of the United States.
No, after I hear the names Bush/Cheney. There's nothing wrong with the
office of president apart from how bushco is fucking things up. And
king george is fucking things up royally. He's *earned* disrespect.
He's done plenty to injure us internally and externally, he's a shitty
president(enabled by a lousy legislative branch not to mention the
judicial branch helped start the whole bushco fiasco), and I offer
respect where I think it is deserved, he ain't deserving. Blind
respect for people due solely to their position is what
kings/dictators/fascists(and imagined deities) popes etc demand. It's
not the power they have, it's what they do with it that either earns
respect or disrespect.
***** bushco. He/they blew it big time, pretty much across the board.
He shouldn't have made it past fry manager at McDonald's, second
shift. Cheney should be working in the Powder Basin on some oilfield
crew. We'd probably be much better off.

In case you missed it. Bush lied his tush off again, or more
accurately, as usual. And after he was caught, he and his
flunkies are still lying.
http://tinyurl.com/2ppkfu
You and Olby are both idiots.
Please show why you think so, or is it just that, an opinion? KO
presented evidence of Bush's lies about Iran. Now present yours.
Well, let's see, the first 30 seconds of KO's ridiculous rant
contained two blatant pieces of misinformation.
First was that Bush was threatening WWIII. He wasn't threatening. He
was stating a fact. If Iran gets a bomb then WWIII will follow, as
night follows day.
Bush (and you) assert that WWIII will happen if Iran gets the nukes.
That's a threat it will happen. It doesn't have to be said "I will
start WWIII" to be a threat. It's fearmongering plain and simple.
You assume that Iran would fire the missiles in attack, unprovoked
or as a first strike.
No, I don't assume that.
Then what essentially makes Iran having nuclear weapons any different
from the US, Russia(in 14 republics), Great Britain, France, China,
India, Pakistan, or Isreal?
See below.
They have said more than just "Israel will be wiped off the map" which
is what you seemingly refer to here. The mullahs have given
religious justification for the use of nukes against Israel, as well as
stating that while Israel can be destroyed by a few bombs, the "muslim
world" would only be hurt, not destroyed.
We took on the job when nobody else would. We may not be very good at
it, but at least we're willing to do something when nobody else will do
anything but talk.
They are not in power and not likely to gain power.
They
are not exactly silent or powerless people in that group. Plenty of
sheepish followers here that don't stand up and bitchslap those
It's the insane part that worries me.
I'd consider the Iranian statement more significant if we didn't have
similar stupidity, to me it's hypocritical to ignore ours while
screaming about theirs.
It's foolish to ignore theirs while screaming about "ours".
If they were as rational as you say they are, they would have been
more forthcoming about their nuclear development.
And let's face it, they haven't stopped enriching uranium or stopped
developing missiles that can deliver a bomb if they manage to build
one (or more than one).
Pointing big guns at them is not the smartest way to resolve it.
It's the only way to get them to listen to reason.
They
have the right to nuclear power, they can be brought to international
compliance without the warmongering and bully *****.
The EU tried that since the 1970's. The only thing that will get radical
Islamist Muslims to pay attention is those big guns you complained about.
Our
transparency is questionable to say the least. This is arguably the
most secretive administration we've had, and has been known to *****
with data to suit their ideology. We hide *****, they hide *****.
Minimizing the reasoning for their perceived need for such weaponry is
something we can work at. Bushco has made that much harder to do now.
Excusing our enemies on the basis of false equivalences only enables
those enemies to work against us.
Second was that "Bush had to have known". He had been briefed about
unconfirmed reports. The information in the NIE wasn't fully
confirmed and vetted until just a few days ago.
That he was told new info is coming that might change their
assessment, and wasn't questioned by Bush, and nobody clued Bush in
that his ratcheted rhetoric should be cooled shows that either Bush
is an idiot, or his support staff are idiots, or both.
Oh, brother. The CIA has been openly conducting operations against the
"bushco" for six years now.
It looks much like they want to create their own reality like they
did with Iraq. How much of a pariah does Bushco want the USA to be?
When did Bush ever wait for anything to be fully confirmed before?
He started a fucking war without waiting for confirmation, as a
matter of fact he went AGAINST the available information.
Following that is eight minutes of hysterical stupid-mongering.
What color is Bushco koolaid anyway?
My guess is black or red.
That's the haze over your own vision when you hear the name of the
President of the United States.
No, after I hear the names Bush/Cheney.
That's what I said.
There's nothing wrong with the
office of president apart from how bushco is fucking things up. And
