The Romans called the Christians atheists because they didn't believe in

The Greeco-Roman version of Christianity known as Catholicism or

That's Greco-Roman
has been trying hard to monopolize Jesus.
The Hebraic or semetic version of Christianity also known as Islam on

Why is this in alt.atheism?
Because without theism atheism would be meaningless.
Without theism, atheism would be the default. It just wouldn't
have a name, since that wouldn't be needed. Theism wouldn't
exist, so there wouldn't be anything to be without. That would
be a dream come true.

Nonsense.
84% of the current world population adheres to some form of religion.
I don't suspect the percentage in the past was much less. Seems like
the default position to me.

You might eath atheists (Isn't that criminal?), but I have no appetite

Yes. I understood your point the first time. What you have not
addressed is why an atheist would want to hear theist drivel. Not
believing in unicorns does not mean I wish to hear about unicorns.
Turnoff your TV, Radio and stop going to church.
I do not watch TV., listen to the radio, or go to church. For the most
part. I still watch the Daily Show and [adult swim] if I remember.
Your desire not to hear about unicorns creates no obligation in others
not to talk about them.
Right. But it's a matter of simple respect. alt.atheism is an atheist
newsgroup. Theist nonsense does not belong here. That is the point I've
been making, while you spew on about how atheism is meaningless without
theism, which makes theist postings no less disrespectful or irrelevant.

Are you an agnostic atheist or agnostic theist? I'm not sure I've met
an agnostic that truly straddles the fence. I knew one that thought
there was a god but could not say for sure or pick a single one. Many
atheists I know simply apply Occam's razor to the problem, so they
could be called agnostic atheists or weak atheists (as I understand it,
those are pretty much the same. I'm sure somebody here will explain the
difference if I'm wrong). I fall a little more strongly atheist than
true weak atheism regarding the Christian god.
If there were no theists what would the folks on alt.atheism talk

If there were no theists, this newsgroup would not exist. Hell, if
theists were just a wierd minority, this newsgroup wouldn't exist.
Would you swap recipes? Talk about the weather? Start swapping nude
pictures of yourselves?
Incidentally, I have seen recipes swapped here. But it's more a forum
to discuss issues common to atheists. For instance separation of church
and state and how others deal with the theists around them. There are
some places where pretty much everybody is a devout religionist of one
sort or another, so they don't have anywhere else to discuss these
things without facing harsh words and worse.
Unfortunately, theists seem to take this newsgroup as a giant
invitation to spread their favorite flavor of god.

Just a common Agnostic. I make no personal statement beyond the fact
that I can not know.
I take an old school position on Atheism vs Theism. You are either one
or the other.
