Defrocked Priest Found Guilty of Raping Young Boy

CAMBRIDGE, Mass .-- A jury on Monday found defrocked priest Paul Shanley
guilty of repeatedly raping a young boy at a Boston-area church during
the 1980s.

Many of the charges were validated in previously secret documents
maintained by the Boston archdiocese that showed church officials knew
of sexual abuse complaints against the priests; rather than reassigning
them to jobs where they would not work with children, church officials
moved the accused priests from parish to parish.
Abuse allegations against Shanley dated back at least to 1967, according
to the church files.
The documents also showed that church leaders knew Shanley had attended
a 1979 meeting of men involved in sexual relationships with young males.
That meeting gave rise to NAMBLA, the North American Man Boy Love
Association.
As a "street priest" who ministered to troubled adolescents, Shanley cut
a dashing figure in Boston in the 1970s. He kept his dark hair long,
wore blue jeans and rode around Boston on a motorcycle.

I can't "excuse" it - no one can, or should try. No one ever claimed
Christianity could achieve perfection in a fallen world. But it bears far
more good fruit than left wing secularism, as the fallout of the 60s
proves, or worse, the outright depravity of the Kinsey revolution, which
produced only evil. All one has to do is look at the evidence.
