Mozilla's Firebird is my browser of choice. It kicks Opera's

*Any* Opera; the most recent I've used is 7.23. One is required to pay to
make the advertisements go away.
Mozilla Firebird is free, and has more viewable area per window than any
other browser bar none. Lean and fast, written with the XUL user interface
language. Very portable across disparate operating systems.
To be fair though, absolutely *any* browser is better than IE, so if you
insist on Opera, good on ya.

I used Nutscrape initially then moved to Opera. For a short while I had
both plus IE on board. Since moving to a laptop I haven't bothered playing
with browsers but I may look into Moz Zibby - err - I mean Mozilla just out
of curiousity.

Mozilla Firebird, not Mozilla. 2 different products, although Firebird is
based on the other. The 2 links above will provide some enhancements that
make it both visually pleasing and far more useful. Skypilot was voted "Best
Browser Theme" 2 years running, IIRC.

OK - what unloads a "jar" file - and while we are at it - how about a "xpi"
file?

For the jar file (Java ARchive), it's probably easiest to go to
http://skypilot.projectit.com/ and click the small install link at the
bottom. The xpi will ask you to install when you click on it above.
