Arrest for Commercial Burglary
Date: May 14, 2004
DR#: 04-6293
Contact: Lieutenant Mike Hamel (949) 724-7163
Sergeant Wally Prestidge (949) 724-7165
On the morning of May 10, 2004, employees at Consumer Portfolio Services
(16355 Laguna Canyon Road) discovered that their business had been
burglarized sometime during the night, and they called the Irvine Police
Department to investigate.
Responding Officers discovered that the suspects had used large rocks to
shatter a window of the business to gain entry. Six flat-screen computer
monitors were discovered missing from the location. CPS had been
burglarized five times in the recent past prior to this incident. In an
effort to identify the suspects, officials at CPS hired a private
security firm to install several high-end hidden surveillance cameras
within the business.
A review of the video footage from the night the burglary occurred
revealed two suspects carrying the flat-screen monitors through the
business. The suspects were identified as two on-duty security guards,
employed by Consumer Portfolio Services’ own contract security firm. At
the time of the burglary, the security guards can be observed in full
uniform, armed with handguns.
On May 13, 2004, Detectives from the Irvine Police Department arrested
the two suspects responsible for the burglary, and booked them at the
Orange County Jail. In addition, they served search warrants at
locations in Santa Ana, Orange, and Claremont in search of stolen
property. Detectives are continuing their investigation into the
possibility that the suspects may be responsible for additional crimes
in the City of Irvine as well as surrounding cities.
Officials from CPS and the security firm were instrumental in assisting
to identify and locate the suspects. The security firm has offered its
assistance from the beginning, and has fully cooperated with the Irvine
Police Department in every respect. There is no evidence to suggest any
other security guards are involved in this crime.
This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information that might assist
the investigation can contact Detective Condon at (949) 724-7244.
Suspects:
Cameron Aragonez, age 26, resident of Santa Ana
Dontai Tobin, age 25, resident of Claremont

so? Why would this be of interest to anybody outside of the store
owner or perhaps local residents?

Well, actually 2 security guards caught on their own security
cameras is quite funny !
Didn't you read it ?

highly values its normal man.It educates children to lose themselves

Rather like the bank robber who writes a hold-up note on the back of his own
deposit slip.
Anyway, it was properly labeled as off topic, so relax :-)

I figured they didn't install the cameras nor know anything about them.
Security guards usually aren't very high level employees.
My idea of Funny is a bank robber who puts on his ski mask standing
in front of the ATM camera.
