Object: OT - Negative contributions to Dubya
This election cycle, I have so far received 3 maillings from the
Republican camp asking for donations from this "loyal American." 2 of
them included 8x10 glossies of Our Glorious Leader in leader-like poses.
I find it amusing that these dimwits are asking me for financial aid.
I'm proud to be a drain on their postal and printing budgets.
In fact, I go the extra mile and send back their postage-paid envelope
empty. I do whatever I can. {;-)

Pity. If they have a free of charge reply address, you could send them

I'd expect them to report me for "subversive activity."

I recall, that back in the '70s I believe, someone slightly reworded the
bill of Rights to make it sound more contemporary. He then shoed his
work to a number of random people and asked their opinion of it. A
sizable percentage, I can't remember how many, said it sounded like a
Communist doctrine. I couldn't find a link.

Actually, having read some of the Founding Fathers, writings, I can
see what they mean.
All that equality, freedom etc. They might not have used the same
words, but there is a strong hint of Carl Marx, in a lot of it.
Certainly, their aims were the same, a utopia, where everybody could
live, free, and proud.
Pity your presidents all seem to emulate Groucho.

Sounds like an exciting experiment. But without knowing how it read
when re-worded, it's useless to speculate on the value of it.
That bill of Rights was written so carefully and the usage of each
word was considered carefully. So, you have to consider the meaning of
the words at the time to interpret it anyway, so any change will
drastically change it's meaning anyway.
Even in it's original form it's open to misinterpretation by those who
don't respect the freedoms it gives us.
