OT + aa I hate google groups limits |
This is me, Lucifer. I hate google groups posting limits, so I'm
setting this up. I'll confirm it on my existing account in a bit, when
the limit expires, to prove it is the real me.
(I got the idea from Sir Panama Floyd)

Then why do you use Google Groups? There are other inexpensive options,
and high quality free software to access them.
News.Individual.NET is out of Germany, and is only 10 Eur per year.

I don't know about Lucifer, but we aren't able to access newsgroups
from my workplace, although browsing the web is allowed. Google allows
me to browse usenet from anywhere and maintain a relatively consistent
appearance, rather than bouncing between whatever software happens to
be available on the computer I'm using at any given moment. When I run
up against the Google limits at home, I switch to Thunderbird, but then
I worry people might think I'm trying to get around killfiles.
You can probably tell I'm a little embarassed by the whole thing.

Well this is the real me again, verifying as promised - several
reasons, I'm awful with computers, and I often access this from
college, where web browing is technically allowed but restricted, and
no usenet is allowed.
I keep meaning to get round to summat better, but I never do.

Yup. Same here. Posting from work, computer at home went "boat anchor"
on me year before last. Even though there's good cheap (or free)
newsreaders out there, there'd be hell to pay if I downloaded something
to one of these machines.
