OT- euphemisms |
One thing I like about George Will is his ability to
turn a clever phrase or euphemism.
He described Condi Rice as having a "versatility
of conviction". (Meaning she would enthusiastically
tell whatever lie her boss told her to this week.)
I was thinking of a euphemism for 'theft'.
It occurs to me that thieves often justify
their thieving with the rationalization that they are
unfairly disadvantaged while the victim is
overly privileged. There is often a classism
or victimology based rationalization.
A good PC euphemism would not be immediately
perjorative. As euphemisms for
'theft' what do you think of:
"individual initiative communism"
"unilateral social-financial engineering"
"projective communism"
"private initiative uninlateral recompensation"

"Gittin paid."
Several years ago here in Memphis two armed robbers went into a store,
pulled a gun on the clerk and demanded money.
There was a second clerk who dropped down behind the counter, grabbed
his own gun and when one of the robbers jumped up on the counter the
clerk shot him.
The wounded robber was interviewed by a tv news reporter later and
said something to the effect of: "They wasn't no sense in dat man; we
wudn't gonna hurt nobody; all's we wanted to do was to go in dere an
git paid. They jest wasn't no sense in it."

I was thinking of a euphemism for 'theft'.
