Former scout master charged with indecency with a child

(4/02/05 - LA PORTE, TX) — A former scout master has been charged with
two counts of indecency with a child.
Winton Bascom Adams, 78, is accused of having improper contact with a
blind nine-year-old boy. Adams was also a chaperone for the Spring
Branch Lions Club. The alleged incident happened in September during a
camping field trip for handicap children near Kerrville.
Adams recently resigned from the Lions Club, but has not yet turned
himself in.

Man turns himself in over indecency charges

A 78-year-old man charged Thursday with two counts of indecency with a
child turned himself into authorities Friday.
Winton Bascom Adams, of the 1400 block of Oak Tree, is accused of
sexually abusing a blind, 9-year-old boy in January at Adams' home, in
his vehicle and in a bathroom stall at a theater, where the two had
seen a "Sponge Bob" movie, according to court records.
The two met last June when Adams served as a chaperone on a bus going
to a camp sponsored by the Lion's Club.
Records indicated Adams called the La Porte boy on the telephone for a
month before taking him on outings to such places as the zoo, the mall
and the park, records indicated.
He turned himself in to La Porte police Friday after warrants had been
issued for his arrest. The boy told his aunt in late January that
Adams had sexually abused him.
