Object: OT: Give a kind deed or thought to our Vets
We're at war this Veteran's Day, and our admirable soldiers are making great
sacrifices and accomplishing amazing feats for us. It's a sad fact of life,
but a fact nonetheless, that there are bad guys out there who want us dead
or worse, Islamic god-bots. We've asked so much of our fighting men and
women and they have performed magnficently. We've asked them to win wars
and to rebuild societies. We've asked them to suffer while simulatneously
having empathy for the suffering of those in foreign lands.
If you can show your appreciation in some way, either by donation to a
veteran's charity, lending a hand to a soldier's loved one who is not at
home or otherwise show our troops just how greatful we are, I hope you will
find a way to do so. If nothing else, I hope that you will at least spend a
moment or 2 today to find some way to express your support for our fine men
and women in uniform and for those who have served.

My friends who are vets feel about the senseless insane killing in Iraq the
same way I feel about it.
They know that, as with all soldiers, once in battle they fight for
themselves and their buddies.
I was thinking about them driving into work today. Our current
administration is guaranteeing another 50 years of veteran's days. Most
would like to see it fade into a faint memory of something that happened to
their great great grandparents.
Most would also like to see the lip service given during the wars and on
this day turned into fact. They want decent medical service at their
hospitals.
And a lot of them know where their buddies are. The ones to horribly wounded
to ever see the outside of those hospitals again.
Don't thank a vet, do something to assure there are no more of them.

Your candidate won, and he cut veteran's benefits the last time in
office and will likely make further cuts this time. Of course, this
won't stop him or you from spouting your "Support the Troops!" *****

Go to factcheck to learn about the truth about how Bush has not cut

My grandfather was an officer on a US submarine during WW II, one of the most
dangerous places to be during the war. Most of my family has been in active
service or married to active servicemembers, in all branches of the US service.
I think I know quite well what kinds of risks and sacrifices our servicemen and
women make.
The kindest deed we can give them is to end the grotesque mockery that was our
invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq and bring these veterans home alive, and as
soon as we can.

I see. My belief that human life has great value means nothing to you, I see. I
suppose that fits in quite well with your conservatism and love of the
Republican Party.
I've said this many times before, but I will say this again for the record: Yes,
I am a conscientious objector. If a draft had been reactivated while I was of
age, I would have brought a portfolio before the draft board with many years of
documentation to that effect. I have counselled people for many years about how
to prepare such documentation (see
http://www.serv.net/~techbear/writings/FAQ-CO.html) But as a CO, I would not
have avoided service, only the use of arms. If it were possible to enlist as a
guaranteed non-com with no weapons training, I would have; unfortunately that
opens a catch-22 that would have led to "Learn to murder others or face years in
a military prison." Had I been drafted, I would have fought like Hell to be the
one on the front lines saving your bigoted, arrogant, conservative *****.
Assuming you would not rather bleed to death from shrapnel wounds than allow
yourself to be treated by a gay liberal "cowardly" conscientious objector.

"Learn to murder others or face years in a military prison." Had I
been drafted, I would have fought like Hell to be the one on the front
lines saving your bigoted, arrogant, conservative *****.

Indeed. Physical courage is hardly rare; if it was, there would be

there would be fewer wars.
