OT: How low can the "un" go? |
The competition is getting fierce among those fun-loving parking ticket
collectors at Turtle Bay. Certainly a record was set for mendacious
hypocrisy when the un announced their new human rights commission. The
freewheeling group of the world's worst thugs and bullies has certainly
lived up to their potential in terms of outrageously zany irony. Certainly
no slouch in the competition for most vile un committee would have to be
their crack specialist in nuclear non-proliferation who have promised yet
another angry letter to Iran in response to Ahmadmanincharge's
single-fingered reply to all their previous angry letters.
So Kofi has been feeling left out and outdone. In a bold effort to play
catch up, he has announced that not only will the "un" not ask Hezbollah to
disarm, per the GA's resolution, nor bring Syria to account for the Hariri
assassination per their other resolution, but he has gone a step further and
charged the foxes with security at Lebanese hen houses. That's right, he
directed Syria ... SYRIA ... to enforce the arms embargo on Hezbollah! The
same "un" that has been trying to pressure the US to repeal its own 2nd
Amendment
(http://www.cnsnews.com/ViewForeignBureaus.asp?Page=/ForeignBureaus/archive/200606/INT20060620a.html)
wants to place weapons back in the hands of the murderers who started a war
last month, which used them, without provocation, to kill innocent woman and
children in Israel and led to the devastation of the Lebanese nation he
purports to want to help!
The scariest phrase in the English language has got to be, "we're from the
un, we're here to help."

I doubt that you remember correctly at all, but if you think so, then
provide a cite. And Kofi wasn't just, "telling Syria to keep Hezbollah" in

the hands of the murderers who started a war
last month, which used them, without provocation, to kill innocent
woman and
children in Israel and led to the devastation of the Lebanese
nation he purports to want to help!
The scariest phrase in the English language has got to be, "we're

un, we're here to help."
If I remember correctly, telling the syrians to keep Hezbollah in
line, was Bushes Idea!
I had thought Kofi Anan to be more intelligent than Bush,
but clearly I was wrong.
Why is it that every time Bush "forgets" the microfone is till on,
he wins?
I doubt that you remember correctly at all, but if you think so, then
provide a cite. And Kofi wasn't just, "telling Syria to keep
Hezbollah" in line, he is *entrusting* them with the responsibility
of keeping arms away from Hezbollah. He is putting Syria in charge
of stopping the very activity that he knows damned well Syria had
been committing for years! So drop the stupid Bushwhacking and stop
trying to compete with Kofi for the idiot of the year award.
I considere it not to use the word idiot.
I'm afraid that I agree, but not for the reasons that you think. Kofi
Annan is obviously a very smart and *very* corrupt individual.
Both Bush and Kofi Annan seem to think,
Syria is in position (geographically!)
to make an end to the delivery of weapons to Hezbollah
Bush probably feels that threatening Syria's leaders would work better
than asking them nicely.
However Fester knows better.
If you want the smuggling to stop,
it of course stupid to address the smugglers.
Is that what you are saying?
It's one thing to engage Syria on the issue, it's rather stupid to
*trust* them to do it unless we're holding a gun to their heads.

You may make a mistake here
Neither Ceasar nor Augustus wanted to abolish the Senate
Bush did make use of the UN when in pleased him,
and he might do it again!
As he should. The un is a tool of diplomacy, that is all. If it can be
used to further our national interests then we should exploit that. The
fact that it usually is used to hurt our national interests is reason enough
to seek its abolition.
Somehow you make me change my mind about George Bush,
I beginning to think he is smart after all:)
