OT: Iran becomes UN Disarmament Leader |
This would be humorous, if the stakes weren't so high.
http://www.eyeontheun.org/editor.asp?p=201&b=1
<quote>
Believe it or not: Iran becomes UN disarmament leader, Anne Bayefsky
On April 10th the UN Disarmament Commission elected Iran as one of its
three Vice-Chairpersons.
Afterwards, the UN's Under Secretary-General for Disarmament Affairs,
Nobuaki Tanaka, said the Commission "played a unique role" with "the
advantage of being a fully universal deliberative body." This is the UN
fiction which brings us closer to nuclear war with each passing day. The
allusion is to universal democracy, though the majority of voters are
non-democratic and include thugs, racists and war-mongers.
[ CONTINUED ... ]
The Indonesian representative speaking for the so-called Non-Aligned
Movement (NAM), which holds the balance of power in all universal UN
bodies, praised the Commission's importance and the UN framework. He
then maintained non-proliferation should be chained to disarmament.
Bringing up the rear was the new Iranian Vice-Chairperson. Mehdi
Danesh-Yazdi sought to reassure his UN comrades about Iran's disinterest
in acquiring nuclear weapons by stating: "the national security of
non-nuclear-weapon States was in deep jeopardy." A not-so-subtle
indication of the rationale behind Iran's sprint to the nuclear arms
finish-line.

After all this talk of the flea on the mouse in the living room lets
concentrate on the elephant in the living room of nukes. The USA! The
US should practice what it preaches. Disarmament.

USA and Russia have been sitting on nukes for nearly sixty years and
none have been fired in anger because both countries are civilised and
do not lack intelligence.
When the Islamists get one it will be a matter of months before they
slaughter [their word] tens of thousands and when they do it their
excuse will be "It was the will of Allah" or "Every thing is
pre-ordained byy Allah'
You had better hope you are not living in one of their 'Infidel' nations

But the Iran sabre rattling is not about nukes. It's about oil.

After all this talk of the flea on the mouse in the living room lets
concentrate on the elephant in the living room of nukes. The USA! The
US should practice what it preaches. Disarmament.
Why do you suppose is it that only libs see invisible elephants
everywhere? My guess is it's the kool-aid.

Pakistan is led by a leader who is sane enough to not be suicidal. It
is led by a leader who does not possess fanatical messianic and
apocalyptic dreams of world conquest.
Still doesn't answer the charge of double standards. My position is no
nation should have nukes. Quiet reasonable.
LMFAO! Oh so reasonable. Because we can trust other nations, like
Iran, to keep their agreement not to construct them. We can live on
trust and good will and we'll all bet our very existence on trust. And
then we can go live on the great rock candy mountain and sing koombaya.
But the Iran sabre rattling is not about nukes. It's about oil.
Yes, yes, and the evil ***** Cheney and Haliburton and all the other
mean, old bugbears are fucking up your world for you. So sad. Don't
ever grow up, you couldn't handle it.

After all this talk of the flea on the mouse in the living room lets
concentrate on the elephant in the living room of nukes. The USA! The
US should practice what it preaches. Disarmament.
You should pay better attention to the sermon.
The US preaches that the NPT states should have the monopoly on nuclear
weapons, and should be ready to *enforce* that monopoly against any
nation that develops an arsenal outside the treaty regime.

Iran IS a NNPT signatory. India is not. Yet India has a free
nuclear pass. Why.

Iran is a theocratic dictatorship which supports terrorism. India is a
peaceful developing democratic state.
How blind do you have to be to ask that question?

What we, the US, preach is non-proliferation, the spread of Democracy
and freedom. All of which are reasons for conflict with Iran.

What the US does NOT practice is disarmament. What is the US does NOT
support is the spread of democracy. Look at attempted removal of the
ELECTED president of Venezuela. Look at the removal of the elected
Mohamed Mossedech by the CIA in Iran in 1953. Look at the support for
the unelected princes of Saudi Arabia. No the US is hostile to
democracy. Shows even in the US with the removal of the bill of rights
by the PATRIOT acts 1 and 2.
What the US practices is pre emptive war - illegally.
The reason for conflict with Iran is oil. It sits on the Persian Gulf
and the Caspian Sea. US foreign requires the control of oil to give it
the ability to turn on and off the economies of nations dependent on
middle eastern oil, like China. Regime change in Iran does this even
with the deaths of millions in Iran.
The US is the most dangerous nuclear power in the world and it intends
to use nukes against a still non nuclear Iran. It is the elephant in
the living room.

Nor do we preach it. And well we shouldn't, because one has to be an
idiot to disarm when there are dangers to deal with.
What is the US does NOT

Look at WW I. Look at WW II. Look at the Korean War. Look at OIF. In
fact, this is pointless, because it's obvious that you're a brainwashed
Ameri-phobe who will never overcame his insane ideas. The mere fact
that one could write that last sentence is proof positive that you have
left the surly bonds of reason far behind.
What the US practices is pre emptive war - illegally.
Name 1 legal war that has ever been fought.

and the Caspian Sea. US foreign requires the control of oil to give it

Yawn, yeah whatever dude.
The US is the most dangerous nuclear power in the world and it intends
to use nukes against a still non nuclear Iran. It is the elephant in
the living room.
Yes, now we'll cast aspersions based upon our idiotic ideas of what we
think the US intends to do. It's not like our Prez has ever threatened
to wipe Iran off the map or anything.
