Living Will Form
I, _______________, being of sound mind and body, do not wish to
be kept alive indefinitely by artificial means.
Under no circumstances should my fate be put in the hands of
pinhead politicians who couldn't pass ninth-grade biology if their
lives depended on it; nor in the hands of lawyers/doctors who are
interested simply in running up the bills.
If a reasonable amount of time passes and I fail to ask for at
least one of the following:
Beer, Margarita, Scotch and soda, Martini, Vodka and OJ, steak,
Shrimp or crab legs, A Lottery Ticket, bowl of ice cream, Waffles,
chocolate, or $ex......
it should be presumed that I won't ever get better.
When such a determination is reached, I hereby instruct my
appointed person and attending physicians to pull the plug, reel
in the tubes, and call it a day.
At this point, it is time to call a New Orleans Jazz Funeral Band
to come do their thing at my funeral and ask all of my friends
to raise their glasses to toast the good times we have had.
Signature: ____________
Date: ________
I also hear that in Ireland they have a Nursing Home with a Pub.
The patients are happier and they have a lot more visitors. If I
need a nursing home, send me there!
From a friend of mine...
Pang - who wants to be cremated and have the ashes scattered in the
Jemez Caldera!

That's great! I like the idea of a pub. When I go, I just might as well
go drunk out of my mind. :-).

Pang - who wants to be cremated and have the ashes scattered in the
Jemez Caldera!

I always wanted to be buried at sea. I would prefer whole body, but i
understand that getting permission is difficult and it's expensive. So
as a second choice, they can scatter my ashes out there too. Since many
think that life began in the sea, I'll be 'going home'.

I didn't realize that New Mexico had so many volcanos.

Seven visible from my house, one only 2 miles or less.... including Mt.
Taylor. The Rio Grande Valley which cuts roughly from north to south
through the state is a rift valley. The original surface is 5 miles
deep now. The area began rifting about 30 million years ago... hence
the volcanic activity. A "bulge" is growing some 20 miles south of my
house.... and it is part of the "plumbing" which also feeds the Jemez
Caldera, dormant - not dead. Hot springs south and north of where I
am.
The moiuntains in my back yard were formed when the land begasn to
split apart. The release of tension caused the land to the east of me
to rise; I love the difference. The west side (facing me) is rough
and eroded; the east side is much smoother and visibly tilts.
eastern smooth side / western "rough" side. The western side displays
clearly the layers of limestone from the inland sea ( ribboning the top
of the mountains) and then basaltic layers.

Wow!. California, of course is geologically active. One just has to look
at the terrain. In some places where the roads cut through the hills and
ridges one can see all of the geological layers and the effect of
uplift.
I need to learn more about this.

Wow!. California, of course is geologically active. One just has to look

I am not aware of any attempts to tap geothermal power - but then who

The Director, I presume.

Pang - who does know that solar power is more common here - many homes
have solar panels on their roofs or in the yard. The water still in my
back yard is solar powered.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valle_Grande

Any idea when it last erupted? I didn't see anything at the sites.

Formed near the intersection of the Rio Grande Rift and the Jemez
Lineament the Valles Caldera is classified as an active caldera, though
the last eruption was 50 to 60 thousand years ago. The Jemez Mountain
range is the product of millions of years of volcanic activity,
including two separate violent eruptions that collapsed the volcano
initially forming the Toledo Caldera and later the Valles Caldera.
Nearly 15 miles across, the Caldera is dotted with domes along a ring
fracture zone and is dominated by Redondo Peak (11,254 feet). After the
formation of the Valles Caldera, precipitation filled this natural bowl
creating a lake that is believed to have been several hundred feet
deep. Continued volcanic activity, however, caused a breach in the rim,
draining the lake within 100,000 years of the caldera-forming
eruptions.

A bathhouse has been in operation for years in the Jemez village -
further up the volcano are hot springs accessed by hiking. One is
reserved informally for nude bathing.... so I hear. :-)
