OT--Ugly LOTR action figures |
So I go looking for "Lord of the Rings" figures this afternoon; my nephew
gave me the idea of leaving them in the packages and hanging them on the
wall for decoration.
I have to dub the "Aragorn" figure "Bubbagorn, King of Redneckia." He looks
too much like some of the mechanics (yes, some of them are named "Bubba") I
deliver parts to. Some of the others--Arwyn, Merry, Frodo--barely look like
their patron actors. Most of the costumes look pretty good, detail-wise.
Arwen's slippers look like granny shoes *snicker*
That said...the Witch King looks damn cool. Very good detail--tracings in
the armor, the suggestion of a flowing black cloak, the big-***** mace. That
one I might have to un-box so I can pose him riding the Fell Beast (sold
separately). The King of the Dead kicks *****--glows in the dark.
I'm looking around, hoping to find the Big Man Himself--Sauron, as seen in
the prologue of the first movie:

Good thing I've got a job, eh?

My kids picked up a Boromir/Lurtz combo pack relatively cheap. They altered the
Boromir figure so he had three arrows sticking out of him.
Sick people. :}

I seem to remember making my own "Empire Strikes Back" Luke Skywalker. Off
with his hand!
I beheaded Boba Fett and melted Han Solo's face.
Yup--the LOTR figures are staying in their boxes, even King Bubbagorn. =)
Still...it's just sick having a Legolas with Shield Skateboard...that was
one scene I had to shake my head and roll my eyes over, both at the same
time. Legolas McFly?!
