Perhaps its just me (prolly is) but I've never been able to sit through
Rocky Horror for a complete viewing. My wife loves it but I... just have a
hard time lol.
I say screw it, watch boondock saints, and wait for Hitchhiker's movie to
come out!

You have to view between the lines, with tongue firmly in cheek.

However, the guy who played Lestat was pretty hot - But in general, I

Don't worry, Ann Rice isn't writing horror anymore. She's decided to write
uplifting supernatural stories. Now that she's "grown out" of her alleged
atheism...

No it's more likely she's a bit cracked. Seriously, life's kicked her in
the teeth pretty hard a couple of times. She started her "dark" period
when her child died. I don't think she ever was an atheist but, rather,
one of those "angry at god" theists. Her husband died recently and that
seems to have sent her back to the Catholic church she was raised in.
I can't be *too harsh on her. Two senseless deaths would be hard on
anybody. Obviously, it's had a bad effect on her as she moved to Metairie.
Yeesh. Up on the North Shore I could understand but METAIRIE? Sold her
properties in the Garden District and ran off to some gated something or
other nobody knows where.
Despite her return to the church, though, she had one last bit of witchery
left in her. Made the mansion on St. Charles disappear.
From the tax rolls.
Sold for 1.3 million. It had been taxed for... um... nothing?
Magic!

of the Damned?
Your thoughts welcome.
Rocky Horror. Queen of the Damned sucks! (No pun, intended,
seriously)
:)
Not when you can sit quietly drooling over the star, Aaliyah, in
her just about not there costume.
Sorry, she's not my type :)
However, the guy who played Lestat was pretty hot - But in general,
I thought the movie was awful. Hated the book as well.
Don't worry, Ann Rice isn't writing horror anymore. She's decided to
write uplifting supernatural stories. Now that she's "grown out" of
her alleged atheism...
Blech. Her books are some of the most long-winded tripe I've read in
a while :P
Then why did you read them? You did say 'books' not 'book' so I assume
you've read more than one.

Well, I decided to give her another shot. Had read "Interview with a

had time on my hands to visit the local library and thought "What the hell"?
Read a couple of books (the vampire series) and kept hoping they'd get

the Thomas Covenant books--well, I gritted my teeth and made it
almost halfway through the first one before I admitted I'd
rather hit myself in the head with a 2x4 (with a nail in it)
than read another word. Both experiences were with library

I used to love that series. Anything by Michael in fact. Now I refuse to
read fantasy and stick with Science Fiction, of the hard kind, guitar
mags, and science\evolution books.

I read those, and still have copies, but haven't tried a

Moorcock's _Gloriana, or the Unfulfilled Queen_. Oh, my!

As for some, imo, dynamite horror/vampyre stuff by Phillip Jose
Farmer. Book 1 is "Image of the Beast." Book 2 is "Blown."
One strictly the horror genre is;
"The Second Coming of Lucas Brocaw(sp)," by, iirc Matthew something or

Well, I decided to give her another shot. Had read "Interview with a
Vampire" back when it came out and didn't much care of it. Was laid off
and
had time on my hands to visit the local library and thought "What the
hell"?
Read a couple of books (the vampire series) and kept hoping they'd get
better. Oh well, it was all for naught :)
I had the terminally dismal misfortune with the 'Thomas Covenant'
series. I was thoroughly convinced they all couldn't be the epitome
of absolute rubbish. I was wrong. The good thing is I had checked
them all out of the library.
LOL, yes, I got all my Anne Rice books from the library as well. Some
friends of mine read the "Thomas Covenent" series back when we were in
college and they all loved it. I never got around to reading and don't
think I'll bother now ;)
While I do like vampire stories, I have never been able to
read Anne Rice. Her prose drives me up the wall. And as for
the Thomas Covenant books--well, I gritted my teeth and made it
almost halfway through the first one before I admitted I'd
rather hit myself in the head with a 2x4 (with a nail in it)
than read another word. Both experiences were with library
books, as well. :)
As for some, imo, dynamite horror/vampyre stuff by Phillip Jose
Farmer. Book 1 is "Image of the Beast." Book 2 is "Blown."
One strictly the horror genre is;
"The Second Coming of Lucas Brocaw(sp)," by, iirc Matthew something or
other.
My favorite vampire author is Kim Newman, but then, I'm a
confirmed reference chaser. :)
I liked the early Rice, but for films, Underworld was rather nice.

Though if you want a real treat try Ultraviolet

which is really rather special, without the pejorative implication of
that choice of words...!

Bought it, loved it! My first look at Jack Davenport. I still
think he was the only choice for Arthur Dent in the new
Hitchhikers film. :(

Good idea.
I haven't read any of rice's stuff.
