Wow. To this day, I'm ***** that I fell asleep and missed the chance
to see it live.

Well, I was only 8.

Yes.
My first "girlfriend" was 8. Ingrid, from Iceland. I was 7. "Fram
Narfok"
She lived over the road, and her mother had a clothes dryer, which let
me tell you in 1965-9 was a really big thing.
It was of course completely obvious we would get married - not even a
matter worthy of discussion - but her major preoccupation, given
this, was how would we afford the saucepans.
And we had many discussions on this matter.
I think, almost, it may be where I got my taste for theology for.
And I tell you to this day, Ingrid aside, I *still* haven't figured
that out. (the price of saucepans).
Mind you, that said, I had a dream the other night which indicated in
rather full colour and somewhat excruciating detail, that my first
proper lover had died. Rather nastily.
But given that she has been friendly with my mother since 1980, I
think I need to be a little, or at least, somewhat circumspect about
any enquiries.
Scary, eh? Though probably not for the reasons I'd like to imagine.

I was in Kansas City, Missouri when the landing happened, I watched it on
about 10 TVs, set on all 3 major stations. It was in a drug store/appliance
shop right across the street from what I was going to school at the time.
The owner of the store had locked the doors, given all the customers who were
still in the store a fountain drink of their choice, and sat down with us to
watch the entire landing on the TVs that were for sale.
There were about 8 of us in the shop at the time, I think we were all in awe
during the entire several hours we watched everything that was broadcast
during the landing. It was far better than sitting at home by myself
listening to the radio, most enjoyable was hearing all the rest getting so
excited.
