Well yeah, just look at prohibition. That worked REALLY well.
Not.

But think of it this way; it gave new powers to the ATF and FBI and
allowed government to grow bigger. After prohibition, there was not a
great need for these expanded offices. Do they shrink? Of course not!
You find a new mission and a new way to control the citizens. ATF was
kept busy with the new prohibition of automatic weapons and the FBI was
kept busy with the criminalization of marijuana.

The actions of the disgraceful Clinton and Bush administrations
make it possible for me to say without shame that I deeply regret
the day I put the uniform of my country. The freedoms that I was
willing to protect with my life are being lost. The America of
our founders is dead. All we are waiting for now is rigor mortis.

introducing yourself to your new neighbors by throwing up bad bath tub gin
all over your front lawn ;)

Every sensible person has known for years that legalization of drugs is
the right course. But established interests have too much at stake for
it to happen. The DEA, NIDA, and numerous other government and private
interests need the "war on drugs" for their funding. These parasites
would have to get productive jobs if it ever ended.

The drug war is very similar to Prohibition in the 20's.
It feeds the criminals and punishes the nation. Let's wake up and treat
drugs the same as alcohol. Legalize and control it.
