A US lawyer, Ed Fagan, was due yesterday to file a $100bn (£60bn)
lawsuit against companies accused of ripping off South African workers
under the cover of apartheid.
Companies including Union Carbide Corporation, the Dow Chemical
Company and the South African finance group Alexander Forbes are
expected to be accused of defrauding mostly black employees. Mr Fagan
made his name suing Swiss banks on behalf of Holocaust victims.
