It is famed as a critical moment in code-breaking history. Using a
piece of basalt carved with runes and words, scholars broke the secret
of hieroglyphs, the written 'language' of the ancient Egyptians.
A baffling, opaque language had been made comprehensible, and the
secrets of one of the world's greatest civilisations revealed - thanks
to the Rosetta Stone and the analytic prowess of 18th and 19th century
European scholars.
But now the supremacy of Western thinking has been challenged by a
London researcher who claims that hieroglyphs had been decoded
hundreds of years earlier - by an Arabic alchemist, Abu Bakr Ahmad Ibn
Wahshiyah.

With all due respect to Abu Bakr Ahmad Ibn Wahshiyah, if his people didn't
share the wealth of his knowledge and discovery with the rest of us, we have
no choice but to give credit to the people in OUR culture who 'redid' his
work!!
That's the problem with being intellectually gifted, genius level and all
that; PR. You have to let people KNOW about it. (Grin)
So...The blessings of Allah be upon the head of Abu Bakr, but Rosetta really
did do the job for US. So....

Look, you may think that having someone else figure these things out before

considering that he didn't have access to Wahshiyah's work. Which of course
was the point I was making.

You are simply digging yourself in deeper.
Culture is far more intensive, and inclusive, than this. Consider; you and I
speak English. We share many of the same values. We understand each other
(mostly) when we use referents and cliche's, we have a common storehouse of
symbology we both agree on. "Culture" can be defined as broadly...or as
narrowly..as you like, from 'western' (Everybody that descends, culturally,
from Greek/Roman/Celtic roots) to the five person office staff.
But because it CAN be defined in so many ways, when you speak of it, you are
going to have to put the adjectives in to identify which culture you are
talking about. "Our" culture just isn't clear. So when you say that 'Mormons
aren't part of our culture", you really have to identify what culture they
aren't part of. They most definately ARE a part of Western civilization,
European, American, Western, Christian, (insert every other form of culture
shared by Americans/Europeans except certain specific religious ones).

You are simply digging yourself in deeper.
But it's you and the Monmon church who're digging themselves deeper.
Culture is far more intensive, and inclusive, than this. Consider; you and I

(mostly) when we use referents and cliche's, we have a common storehouse of

That was the culture that the founding father ran away from. That's
why the country is even divided. Your culture is what you call a
doomed culture. Your apologetics and culture are no different from the
Klan and Nazi apologetics and culture.

Wahshiyah.
