Welcome to the abyss, Yasser- it's been a long time comin'.
Perhaps now your many victims can rest in peace.
The children you wired with explosives and sent into the marketplace.
The innocents sitting on buses or settling down for a meal with
friends and family, snuffed out in an instant.
Your right to exist has expired. Your right of return will not be
honored. Your intifada is over.
Your only job now is to rot.
Get to it, you miserable *****.

Is that what you call "religious thuggery"?

He always had with him a little book, suspected of containing the
account numbers etc. That's why his wife and other palestinian leaders
have been fighting amongst themselves, and probably why she didn't
want them to come see her husband at the hospital. His wife was
offered a two million dollar settlement by the palestinian authorities
for relinquishing all legal rights to Arafat and his remains, but
refused.

AFAIC, Israel is as guilty as anyone else of causing unrest and conflict in
the Middle East. However, here in the states, it's considered very
politically incorrect to be less than 100% supportive of them. <G>

It's pretty much the opposite in europe, so I'm pretty much an oddity.
I never fit neatly into any political category, but frankly, I think
that's a relief. Here, iIf you don't condemn everything Israel does on
a daily basis and support the palestinians, you're a bad, bad person
and a zionist and whatnot.
Me, I think everyone has the right to defend themselves and their
lives and health, even israelis, and that argument over "who's land it
is" is a moot point, and that they need to learn to live together in
peace and harmony. I also think a fundamental reason for the conflict
is economy. Israel is rich compared to the palestinians, who in all
their time have never managed to scrape together a modern economy,
whilst Israel is thriving. People get mad when palestinians get shut
out of the israely labor market or are prohibited from going to work
because of military blockades. But what right do foreign citizens
really have to work in someone else's country? Do Canadians have a
moral and undeniable right to go work in the US? Do Mexicans? It seems
to me to be an internal israeli issue.
Nobody has ever fucked the palestinians as hard as they have fucked
themselves, and as soon as they own up to that and start acting
civilized, I'll come over to their side.

A 'jøtulovn' is a type of heater, made by a company called Jøtul. Ovn
just means oven. They're frequently found in cabins and boathouses

Someone in Rec.Hunting posted
#This text is on a JOTUL woodstove
#in our hunt camp
#EG GREV NED MIN ELD
#SENT OM KVELD
#NAAR DAGEN ER *****
#GUD GJE MIN ELD
#ALDER SLOKNA UT
#Anyone know what it says?
#Thanks in advance
I googled it and liked the poem in English, so I tried to research it
and got the. tekst på en Jøtulovn. Is it their poem or did someone
else write it and they just use it on their stoves?
I have seen the cross hatch used in other posts, does it mean that I

It's written in a dialect, and I don't really completely understand
what it says, lol. I mean, I understand the words, it says
Raw translation:
"I dig down my fire
late at night
when the day is over
god give my fire
age burn out"
Interpretive translation:
"I burry my fire late at night when the day is over, (and then a very
vague part) god give my fire the age to burn out" or something like
that. I think he's comparing his old age to the fire or something, but
I could be way off, lol. But then, poems are meant to be interpreted.

I have seen the cross hatch used in other posts, does it mean that I
am quoting someone else?

No idea about that one.

And Google says
I rake my fire
Late at night when the day is over
God let my fire
Never burn out
I like it. I was wondering if it was from the manufacturers Public

I would translate it as follows:
"Late at night
I bury my fire
when the day is over
God make my fire
never go out."
I translate "alder" as "never" although it is probably an older
spelling/use of the word.
My interpretation is that he is comparing the fire within a man to the
fire in the oven. His own fire, his geist, his will to live if you
want.

He doesn't need to negotiate anything meanigful as the Americans have
given him carte blanche to impose a settlement on the Palestinians.
What will happen is that Israel will build it's barrier across the
West bank, putting the seal on the annexation of territories it knows
it can keep, pull back behind it and basically live in the World's
largest fenced community.
Left with a rump of a state, the Palestinains will doubtless go the
way of most brutalised peoples subjected to war and deprivation for
such a long time; decend into civil war and eventual dictatorship of
one kind or another.

As for Arafat's effect on the last 50 years of conflict, I think he
did more harm for the Palestinian cause than good. Leader of a clearly
wronged people as he was, if he had chosen a peaceful course of action
I think the Palestianins would have been viewed in much the same way
as black South Africans, pitied by the world at large and supported in
their claim for a viable land in which to exist. Instead, he chose
violence against innocent (and some not-so-innocent) people and
alienated himself from a large proportion of the world.

Seems to me I recall reading somewhere that Sharon and his gang of
thugs used pretty much the same "techniques" to force the
establishment of the state of Israel that he now makes such a show of
criticizing when others employ them.
Can you say "hypocrite?"
