I'm on hold with the parrot painting as the flowers I want in it require
some techniques I haven't learned yet.
What I don't know is how to show overlapping petals without
spotlighting.
So I started a drawing involving an F-177a, but the heavy black lead
wasn't giving me the 'menacing look' I was trying to get and there was a
terminal case of 'smudge drift' I didn't like. So, I added a black
acrylic wash to most of the aircraft to both get the look I was trying
to achieve as well as to take care of 'smudge drift.'
Once it dries I can eliminate the smudge drift then work on the details
of the vertical stabilizer with acrylic paint.
I'm going to try to do the rest with coloured pencil. I'm hoping such a
disparity amplifies the feeling of menace with the rest of the
landscape.
It will be interesting to see how it turns out.
