We have come to terms with our shameful past so please don't stereotype

It is reassuring to read, by Emma Brockes' poignant pen, that she
rejects racism - in this case what she thinks is racism by and against
Austria (What is Austria's problem?, October 4). It is also reassuring
that she admits to "guess", "legend", "suspicion", "ifs" and
"stereotypes", thus leaving hope for future knowledge.
Unfortunately, her text does not escape what she appears to reject, ie
stereotyping, inaccuracies and half-truths, more damaging than outright
falsehood.
