Object: OT Back home from hospital
The appendix is a useless evolutionary leftover that has no apparent
function except to get rotten and cause a lot a pain. Anyway, had
mine out Sunday evening. Am home and doing well although sore.
Looking slightly like Frankenstein's monster with 11 staples in my
belly. Can't do any driving or operating of heavy equipment for a
while, and am moving rather slowly.
Didn't pray. Made it anyway.
If I've left any posts unanswered from last week, deal.

My daughter came last night and she did some lifting and toting for
me. although I am improving tremendously I still prefer slo-mo to
regular speed. I think I will be fine once the staples come out (next
Friday) and I get some exercise.

Didn't pray. Made it anyway.

Surprised?

Not at all. Although I think the medical staff were rather astounded
at how calm I was when they told me I need an appendectomy. Rather
than being upset by the prospect of surgery, I was relieved that it
was something they knew how to fix.

I was referring to the prayer aspect. When I went in, I didn't pray
either, but I crossed my fingers that the doctors knew what they were
doing. Fortunately they did.
Hope you're up and around soon.

Yes, it hadn't ruptured.

What a horror story! I was in the exam room within 20 minutes of
arriving at the hospital and on pain medication and antibiotics within
the hour. I think the doctors were fairly sure it was appendicitis
and were treating me for it, but wanted the Cat Scan to confirm before
they sent me to OR.

Then I spent almost two weeks sharing a hospital room with a 14 year old
jock who had popped his arm out of the socket playing football. His dad
was even a bigger ***** than he was. I told the dad off after he got in

Asses are just a little too high for me to lift my leg at the moment.
I can kick them in the ankle though and maybe tomorrow the shin.
Certainly, the kneecap by the weekend.

The appendix is a useless evolutionary leftover that has no apparent

mine out Sunday evening. Am home and doing well although sore.
Looking slightly like Frankenstein's monster with 11 staples in my

Didn't pray. Made it anyway.

If I've left any posts unanswered from last week, deal.

Absolutely, everyone was top notch. The emergency room intern was a
sweet young woman who didn't look any older than 17. She was doing
exploratory poking of my abdomen and she hit the "spot". I hit the
ceiling, she jumped and almost fell against the wall, and my mate
jumped up and hit his head on the wall fixture. It would have been
funny if I hadn't been in so much paid. The intern decided she didn't
need to poke anymore. Then the resident came in and said that I
looked really sick and appendicitis was a possibility. One CatScan
later, they confirmed the diagnosis and the head of the surgery
department who happened to be in the hospital that evening did the
honors.

I never did have any pain, and they made me wait for 3 weeks before they did
surgery, meanwhile they pumped me full of antibiotics and fed me nothing but
scrambled water. I never had any real pain until they did the chopping, then
I made up for lost time.

Don't let anyone bring over any funny movies to 'cheer you up.'
Trust me on this one. It's been 21 years and I *still* remember that
mistake.
(For me, it wasn't the appendix that was inflamed. It was my lower small
intestine. But they they took the sucker out while they were in there.)
