If the Patriot Act is so good, why does the
administration feel the need to lie about it?
Here's what Barbara Comstock, of the department of
Justice, had to say about the Patriot Act on Lou
Dobb's "Moneyline":
"...before the Patriot Act, we could go - we could do
a wire tap on a Mafia boss but we couldn't do it on
a terrorist. And that was crazy."
Barbara Comstock claimed to be quoting (and agreeing
with) Senator Joe Biden. If so, it proves that neither of
them deserve a pay check at taxpayer expense.
Who the hell does this woman think she's kidding? The
government was not allowed to go after terrorist?
*****!
It's a lie. It's a flat-out lie, a total fabrication.
But that wasn't her only one. Oh no, perish the thought.
Here's another choice selection of words the dishonest
Barbara Comstock used to describe the imagined
necessity of the Patriot Act:
"And what it did is it just allowed us to update
technology so that we could be tracking terrorists who
use the disposable cell phones and a lot of advanced
technology because we were stuck back in the rotary."
Oh yeah, Barbara, gloss right on over those secret
courts and life-long gag orders making it a crime for
anyone to reveal government abuses, and you just pretend
that all the Patriot Act does is "update" the legal code
from rotary phones to touch-tone service.
This is sickening.
Anyhow, read the exact words yourself. CNN does online
transcripts of their show and you'll find this one at:
http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0308/06/ldt.00.html
P.S. She was remarkably rude, in addition to flat-out
lying. Although she dominated most of the conversation (she
simply refused to stop talking) she also attempted to butt
in on the show's other guest, Ann Beeson of the ACLU, and
even Lou Dobbs himself.
P.P.S. The Patriot act doesn't grant the government any
power over American citizens, according to Barbara
(Skank) Comstock, only terrorist, but it does grant the
government powers over individuals.... who are American
citizens.
I guess that's why they need life-long gag orders on anyway
they pry your personal information from. If tens of millions
of Americans woke up tomorrow to discover that Barbara
Comstock considers them a terrorist (which she does), her
cowardly brand of fascist wouldn't have much of a shelf life.
