Object: OT: Cats and Stuff.
So as I *may* have mentioned before I have this Maine Coon cat. I also
have a fishpond. But until this afternoon, I'd never put any fish in
it.
But today my wife insisted. I wouldn't have minded but for the
cleaning out process before they could stand any chance of survival. 3
fucking hours....
So 20 minutes after the goldfish are in the pond, the Maine Coon is up
there exhibiting classic Maine Coon behaviour: dipping its tail in and
out of the water in an attempt to attract the fish (who so far are
having none of it).
And I swear to God the closest this cat has ever got to fish in its
life has more to do with salmon ala croute, and isn't the brightest
card in the deck, alas.... (it's what comes of being a cat with a
pedigree that can be traced right back to the origin of Maine Coons in
the US....).
Still, Evolution will out eh?
My other cat, the Heinz 57, exhibited no interest in the fish
what-so-ever. But I am convinced she had a deprived kittenhood and for
a cat is socially challenged (which for cats means not very good at
killing things).
Anyway, video up later, if anyone would like to see,,,

My cats don't like fish. I thought about it, and besides a headache I
gleaned the wonderment of why cats would go fishing anyway: they hate
water and can choke on fish bones.
They go for little land animals and birds if not fed from products
that their humans buy from the pet food aisle.
BTW - why is the slang for a vagina "*****"? It's nothing like a cat!
(and a clean one doesn't smell or taste like rotting fish anyway).
Interesting, the amount of wrong assumptions that prevail? It seems
that whatever someone says, if they say it in a seemingly knowing way,
most people fall for it.

We once had a cat that spent all his time at the neighbors sitting on
his aquarium, watching his fish. To give him a treat, we put a pie
pan on the ground with a couple of minnows in it. He stuck his paw in
twice, shook it, then drank all the water and ate the minnows.

Well, I'll be darned.......:-)
He probably was very playful watching the tiny fish dart about. I know
very little about fish, perhaps a minnows bone structure is too small
or soft to pose a hazard to cats.

Bait shop.

They ought to diversify: devote part of the store to electrical components, for instance.
Then they'd be the Bait and Switch shop.

When I was a kid, the next door neighbors put in a fish pond. Our family
cat used to get in big trouble for his fishing expeditions. He was
fastiduous about getting his paw wet but occaisionally succeeded in hooking
one of the goldfish and flicking it out. He never bothered to actually eat
them.
