Under the theory that people rarely rush to register to vote for the
status quo, I'm seeing this as a good sign for Kerry...
It probably is. Also remember that high turnouts usually favor the Dems much
more than they do the GOP.
However, American politics haven't been this polarized since the Civil Rights
movement and the mass defection of the Dixiecrats to the GOP in the mid-late
1960s. It is also possible (and I think very likely) that more people from all
political spectrums have found this particular election very critical in how
this country is going to develop for the rest of their lives and want to be a
part of that decision.
