Many testing centers have a policy of not letting you test if the
weather conditions are anything other than perfect.

Many testing centers have a policy of not letting you test if the
weather conditions are anything other than perfect.

Well, it is a silly policy. Drivers will encounter all kinds of weather
conditions while driving, it wouldn't hurt them to demonstrate their ability
to drive in the rain.
Want to hear something even sillier? Not sure if it is still this way, but
in MD you don't even take your test on the road, you drive around a parking
lot.

Only motorcyclists test this way, in Virginia. I guess they couldn't
find enough test givers that were willing to ride on the back of
beginners' bikes all day. It is a surprisingly difficult test,
however, especially if you show up on a full dress cruiser.

No, that has more to do with general driver unattentiveness, and lack
of concern for the safety of others on the road.

No no, that's California.

You see, if you drive faster you won't be out in the rain as long. Also,
Change lanes often, the longer you stay in between the same two cars the
statistical probability of hitting those two cars increases.
Or so it seems...

Driving tests are now mostly dictated by insurance companies. For instance,
in New York, you don't have to parallel park between two cars anymore. Now,
you just to park behind one (with no car behind you). The reason for this
is too many test-takers were giving fender benders to parked cars, and the
insurance companies got mad. I guess the DMV doesn't really care if you're
a competent driver or not... just as long as you don't break anything when
you're their liability. Go figure.

That's pretty lame. All the DMV has to do is setup 4 cones and tell the
person to park inside of them without touching any of them. Heck, my dad
took a couple of old boards and set them up on end to do the same thing.
Had me park and pull out a dozen times before he'd was satisified I wasn't
going to dent the car...
