False alarm/
Bush already had more than $100 million in the kitty when this
year started, and that's not counting what he had raised and spent
previously.
File this one under "Shades of 2000."
Back then, the GOP and their media lap dogs were reporting that
Al Gore had outspent Bush/Cheney in the campaign, when the
actual figures demonstrated that Bush outspent Gore by almost
2-to-1 ($120.7 million compared to Al Gore's $64.5 million)!
Here's a CNN story that mentions the (Republican) charge, but the
media was too busy pretending that Gore lied about the internet
or visiting a disaster site to even question the claim:
